The professional wrestling industry is show business like no other. With the increased nutrition and physical programs out there, wrestlers can prolong their careers for longer. Of course, professional wrestlers are athletes and they are not exempt from suffering from mental and physical burnout. However, professional wrestling has a track record of wrestlers reaching their peak in the later stages of their careers as some mature and get a better understanding of wrestling in their 40s. WWE has several wrestlers on their main roster who have hit 40 and ar continuing to operate the highest level possible.

Damian Priest Cropped

On September 26, 2022, Damian Priest turned 40 years old. The powerhouse of the Judgment Day was the WWE United States Champion at the start of the year, and make no mistake about it he's destined to win more championships throughout his WWE career.

Priest is an exceptional in-ring competitor for a man of his height, and he's thriving in his role in the Judgment Day. It's hard to believe that he's 40 as he looks younger but Priest could easily wrestle for another decade should he choose to do so.

9 Shayna Baszler - 42

Shayna Baszler Clash at the Castle 2022 Cropped

Former MMA fighter Shayna Baszler is currently one of the toughest wrestlers on the WWE roster alongside two-time SmackDown Women's Champion Ronda Rousey. The Queen of Spades had an exceptional run in NXT where she held the NXT Women's Championship twice and her two reigns are the longest collectively with the championship.

With Triple H at the helm, Baszler has already challenged for the SmackDown Women's Championship but she lost to Liv Morgan at Clash at the Castle. Baszler has won two WWE Women's Tag Team Championships with Nia Jax, but she deserves a singles championship which she has chased for almost three years with no success.

8 Shinsuke Nakamura - 42

Shinsuke Nakamura Intercontinental Champion Cropped

Shinsuke Nakamura is one of the most talented wrestlers that WWE has on its roster. They haven't pulled the trigger with Nakamura when it comes down to holding the WWE Championship or Universal Championship.

He's held the Intercontinental and United States Championship for a long time but had little success with his time as a midcard champion. The King of Strong Style continues to go strong at 42, but it remains to be seen where his future lies as he hasn't been featured regularly in the past few weeks.

6 Natalya - 40

Natalya Money in the Bank 2022 Cropped

Natalya is one of the most underrated wrestlers on WWE's roster. Natalya is a third-generation competitor as the granddaughter of Stu Hart, the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, and the niece of Bret Hart.

Natalya has won several championships as she's held the Divas Championship, the SmackDown Women's Championship, and a WWE Women's Tag Team Champion with Tamina. Nattie is 40 years of age, and she can still hang with the very best in the business as she unsuccessfully challenged Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women's Championship at Money in the Bank.

5 Dolph Ziggler - 42

Similar to Natalya, Dolph Ziggler is another outstanding in-ring competitor. He's achieved everything there is to achieve in WWE and whenever relied upon, he delivers. The Showoff went down to NXT at the start of 2022, and it was surprising when he ended Bron Breakker's NXT Championship reign which was unexpected.

Many felt it was premature that Ziggler ended Breakker's NXT Championship run but he dropped it back to him on the Raw after WrestleMania 38. Ziggler is currently 42 and he has other interests outside of the squared circle, and depending on the opportunities he gets with WWE in the next few months, he could seek greener pastures.

3 Finn Balor - 41

Finn Balor The Judgment Day Cropped

Arguably, Finn Balor has one of the best physiques on the roster for someone at the age of 41. Balor has been on the cusp of greatness in WWE but untimely injuries have halted his momentum. Especially at SummerSlam 2016, when he defeated Seth Rollins to become the inaugural Universal Champion.

Balor's had a magnificent WWE career and he is currently doing some of his best work as the leader of the Judgment Day. Triple H is in charge, and the sky is the limit with Balor, and another World Championship reign in the future could likely be in store for Balor, who continues to operate at a high level.

2 Asuka - 41

Asuka Raw Women's Champion 2nd Reign Cropped

1 Randy Orton - 42

Randy Orton 14th World Title Reign Cropped

Randy Orton is one of the greatest wrestlers to grace a WWE ring. When he's motivated, there's hardly anyone in the business who does it better than him. Orton's had his fair share of injuries throughout his career but he has always found a way to bounce back.

The Apex Predator clinched his 14th World Championship at Hell in a Cell 2020 when he was 40. Orton's currently 42, and if he can stay fit and healthy, he's in the hunt to win three more World Championships to break the record of 16 that is currently shared by Ric Flair and John Cena.
