WWE Hall of Famer Edge is one of the most accomplished superstars of all time, with decades worth of experience and countless memorable moments over the years. He has been a part of some great storylines during his career, winning many world titles and main eventing multiple WrestleManias, with one of the greatest comebacks of all time in recent years.RELATED: Top 10 Worst WWE Storylines Of The Past 5 YearsHowever, with having such a longevity in the business, Edge has fallen victim to poor booking at times, like many others over the years. His time in WWE has been mostly positive, but there have been some occasions where his storylines have been lacking, and at times they’ve even been bad. Of course, these will all be debatable, but some people enjoy things that others don't.

10 Greatest Wrestling Match Ever

Edge vs Randy Orton WWE Backlash 2020

When Edge made his huge return to WWE in 2020, the wrestling world rejoiced. With the possibility of brand-new dream matches, fans salivated at the prospect of Edge back in the ring. He would face off with long-time rival and former partner, Randy Orton, in his first feud back. With some strong character work, they built up one of the hottest rivalries in the company.

Their WrestleMania match was underwhelming, but instead of leaving it there, WWE decided to extend it. WWE built to their rematch at Backlash, where they would wrestle in what was billed as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever”. This was farcical, with both men having to shoehorn the term into promos, and it made a mockery of what was previously a very personal build.

9 Playing Hot Potato With Dolph Ziggler

Edge v Dolph Ziggler Royal Rumble 2011 Cropped

At the start of 2011, Dolph Ziggler looked to be one of the rising stars in the company, becoming the top heel contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, held by Edge. With Ziggler being aligned with Edge’s ex onscreen wife, Vickie Guerrero, the feud was all about that history, with Ziggler feeling like an afterthought.

During the feud, Guerrero stripped Edge of the World Title, handing it to Ziggler, marking his first World Title reign. This felt like a waste of Ziggler, especially since Edge easily won it back later that very same night, making the switch feel pointless, tainting history books with a meaningless reign for Ziggler. The younger star wouldn’t benefit from this feud at all, with Edge beating him at every turn.

8 First WWE Gimmick

Edge WWE Debut

When Edge made his official WWE debut, it was as a loner character who strolled the streets at night, ambushing innocent people, and entering the arena through the crowd. Although he did have several pre-taped vignettes to introduce his character, there was zero depth or explanation as to who he actually was.

His debut didn’t get off to the best start, legitimately injuring Jose Estrada in their match. His gimmick didn’t last too long, with a pretty boring feud teaming with Sable to take on Marc Mero and Jacqueline being the highlight.

7 Cheating With Alicia Fox

Edge Kissing Alicia Fox

At the height of Edge’s time as the top heel on Smackdown, he managed to get a lot of perks by being in a relationship with the general manager, Vickie Guerrero. After the pair married, it was revealed by Triple H, who somehow found some footage of the event, that Edge had cheated with wedding planner, Alicia Fox.

It was very soap opera, and there was little follow up where Fox was concerned. It did lead to Guerrero reinstating Edge’s rival The Undertaker eventually, but despite a great Hell in a Cell match, the breakup between Guerrero and Edge didn’t last long, with them reuniting by the end of the year, rendering the whole cheating angle pointless.

6 Comeback Feud Vs Chris Jericho

Edge vs Chris Jericho Wrestlemania 26

After months of absence, Edge returned to win the 2010 Royal Rumble. He set his sights on former partner Chris Jericho for WrestleMania, who had become World Heavyweight Champion. This should have been an intense, heated rivalry, but it never really got to second gear, with a very bog-standard build, and match which lacked heat.

The storybook ending of Edge defeating Jericho only occurred after Jericho lost the belt to Mr. Money in the Bank, Jack Swagger, and by then the feud had simmered out. It was a huge waste of a feud and a Royal Rumble winner.

5 Real-Life Animosity With Matt Hardy And Lita

Edge vs Matt Hardy Summerslam

After it had emerged that the married Edge had been having an affair with Lita, who had been dating Matt Hardy, the latter was fired after he found out, due to unprofessional conduct. Instead of reprimanding those in the wrong, WWE decided to turn this into a storyline due to the fan revolt at the firing of Hardy, by re-signing him and letting a feud play out.

This onscreen love triangle was uncomfortable and in bad taste, making money from a truly terrible act, especially when WWE went all in on the Edge and Lita partnership on TV.

4 Feuding With The Anonymous Raw General Manager

Edge and the Anonymous Raw General Manager

The period of Raw where it was reigned over by a laptop is a sour one for fans to look back on, especially when WWE clearly had no pay off to who the General Manager actually was. When Edge looked to be directionless on Raw, with no one readily available to feud with, he ended up feuding with the laptop.

It was a silly angle that made Edge look foolish, with him beating down a laptop in the ring. If there was a pay-off, then it might have been okay, but there was no reward for the story, as Edge randomly turned face not long after, and turned his attention elsewhere.

3 Love Triangle With Big Show & Vickie Guerrero

Vickie Guerrero, Edge, Big Show, WWE

In the lead up to WrestleMania 25, the World Title scene was dominated by an awful love triangle, which saw Vickie Guerrero have an affair with Big Show, and John Cena using blackmail to get his way into the Mania title match.

The World Heavyweight Championship felt like an afterthought amongst this terrible storyline, and none of those involved benefited in the slightest.

2 World Title Feud Vs Kane

Edge Kidnapping Paul Bearer

After a face turn towards the end of 2010, Edge managed to win the World Heavyweight Championship. He would then feud with former champion Kane in one of the most backwards face/heel dynamics of all time.

Reigning babyface champion Edge decided to torment Kane by kidnapping his father, Paul Bearer, and aiding in trying to have Kane maim Bearer. Torturing an elderly man, regardless of who he was, was a weird direction for a face, and it was poor television.

1 Japanese Shampoo Commercial

Edge vs Booker T Wrestlemania 18

Two of the more prominent names in wrestling history went toe-to-toe at WrestleMania, with Edge and Booker T battling at WrestleMania 18. On paper, this looked like a huge battle between a former WCW Champion and a future WWE Champion, with generations going head-to-head in a major match.

However, this feud stemmed from Booker being replaced by Edge for a Japanese Shampoo Commercial. That is not a typo – that is the actual genesis of a WrestleMania match. The build now lives in wrestling folklore as one of the silliest of all time, but that doesn’t make it any less terrible.
