The legacy of D-Generation X is stronger than ever after the recent reunion on Raw created strong interest. Even the non-WWE member Billy Gunn is hotter than ever as a popular part of The Acclaimed act in AEW. However, most of the love for DX tails back towards their time as a group on-screen when all were active competitors.

Various versions of DX had rivals of the face and heel side since they switched back and forth. Some of the feuds came against fellow factions with both sides looking to reign supreme. Others were on their own as singles programs turned into the entire faction going at it with them. The following rivalries of DX’s history will be ranked to see which were the worst and which were the best.

10 The Spirit Squad

The Spirit Squad Cropped

The return of D-Generation X in 2006 was a huge story for WWE when Triple H turned face to unite with Shawn Michaels. Vince McMahon was the main reason they reunited, but the Spirit Squad represented the boss as their first feud back.

Michaels and Triple H got the better of the Spirit Squad in every noteworthy match despite the 5 vs 2 advantage for the heels. WWE mostly booked this feud for DX to make fun of the heels that would be repackaged at the end of the feud anyway. Unfortunately, this does not hold up and is hard to watch back today.

9 The Undertaker

Shawn Michaels v The Undertaker Royal Rumble 1998 Cropped

The 1998 version of D-Generation X saw Shawn Michaels trying to defend the WWE Championship with Triple H and Chyna often getting involved. WWE booked The Undertaker to be Michaels’ main challenger at the start of the year setting up a casket match.

DX orchestrated multiple attacks on Undertaker and even had a moment at the end of the feud where Michaels impersonated Undertaker in hilarious fashion. Kane ended up costing Undertaker the match to make the DX feud less memorable.

8 Kane

Paul Bearer Kane

WWE reunited D-Generation X in late 1999 when X-Pac betrayed Kane to team up with Triple H and the New Age Outlaws again. Kane’s girlfriend Tori even turned on heel on him to start dating X-Pac and join DX as a second woman with Stephanie McMahon.

This was an underrated feud of Kane showing his face character in new ways for the first time like cutting promos and having an emotional heartbreak. Kane returning from an injury created an all-time pop when looking for revenge on DX.

7 JeriShow

Chris Jericho Big Show

The final version of D-Generation X as a full time act featured Triple H and Shawn Michaels having a tag run before Michaels retired. Big Show and Chris Jericho formed JeriShow as a rare dominant tag team that felt equal to Triple H and Michaels.

All four names entered unfamiliar territory by having a TLC match won by DX. There was even a cool twist of Mike Tyson returning and joining the heels to continue his previous beef with Michaels before swerving them. Tyson joined DX for real this night to celebrate getting one over on JeriShow.

6 The Corporation

The Corporation

WWE created some faction warfare moments with The Corporation feuding against D-Generation X. Vince McMahon’s heel group growing in size meant they needed more stories beyond trying to make life hell for Steve Austin.

The Corporation feuding with DX gave us some noteworthy moments like DX impersonating the members of the group. Unfortunately, this feud also ended DX for the time being in 1999 when Triple H and Chyna betrayed DX to join The Corporation in a huge swerve.

5 Rated RKO

Rated RKO Impersonates DX

An underrated feud for D-Generation X doesn’t get talked about as much due to how quickly it ended. Rated RKO formed when Randy Orton and Edge looked to unite and take down Triple H and Shawn Michaels as the top duo on Raw.

The two sides had great segments and a couple of strong matches. However, a final match at New Year’s Revolution 2006 ended prematurely due to Triple H tearing his quad again. WWE dropped the angle and never went back to when he returned since everyone was in new stories.

4 Bret Hart

Bret Hart WWE Champion 1997

The first feud for D-Generation X came against Bret Hart and the Hart Foundation. Shawn Michaels was technically the one feuding with Bret, but the other members of DX became involved by proxy when the group now started.

Triple H and Chyna getting to oppose Hart and his relatives added a lot of momentum for them that was lacking before DX. Michaels pushing the envelope with his group clashed with Bret’s style and created compelling television in the time just before the Attitude Era started.

3 Vince & Shane McMahon

The heel father and son tandem of Vince and Shane McMahon united on WWE television once more to oppose the reunited D-Generation X in 2006. Triple H and Shawn Michaels wanting revenge on Vince caused the reunion and Shane got involved after a few weeks.

DX impersonating Vince and Shane was considered the funniest segment of that version of the group with them holding nothing back. An underrated Hell in a Cell match ended the feud perfectly with DX standing tall after a bloody brawl over the McMahon’s and their hired gun Big Show.

2 Steve Austin

The presence of D-Generation X is a bit underrated when looking back at Steve Austin’s rise to the top. WWE strategically waited until WrestleMania 14 to put the WWE Championship on Austin even though fans were ready eleven months prior after his epic double turn with Bret Hart.

DX presented a rare challenge of heels that felt credible against Austin. Most fans wanted and expected Austin to win, but Shawn Michaels having his own group and Mike Tyson getting involved made it tougher. Austin overcoming everything to beat Michaels made the moment perfect to start his iconic run.

1 Nation Of Domination

Nation Of Domination

WWE found the right chemistry for a faction vs faction feud when D-Generation X had a major rivalry with the Nation of Domination in 1998. Triple H and The Rock each reached new levels by having great performances against each other while leading their respective groups.

Other secondary stories like Chyna vs Mark Henry and X-Pac vs D’Lo Brown provided different versions of the feud within one bigger story. DX vs the Nation may have been the best faction warfare story in WWE since it had more time than counterparts like The Shield vs the Wyatt Family.
