Legendary WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with the company. While the festivities might not have gone as per plan due to the actions of The Judgment Day faction, the fans are well-aware of the legacy he built throughout his career with WWE.
Along with his time in WWE, Rey Mysterio has been in the pro wrestling business for over three decades and has won multiple championships across various promotions, and is also a former 3-time world champion in WWE. Rey Mysterio has been a part of various iconic moments throughout his WWE career, some of which took place at the grandest stage of them all, including his first world championship victory. With that said, let's take a look at every WrestleMania match of Rey Mysterio's career according to Dave Meltzer's rankings.
10 JBL Vs. Rey Mysterio (WrestleMania 25) - Not Rated
After John Bradshaw Layfield defeated CM Punk to win the Intercontinental Championship, Rey Mysterio stepped up to the new champion and challenged him to a match at WrestleMania 25.
It was the sixth match of the event, and JBL thought he had the advantage after attacking Mysterio before the match even started. However, once the referee called for the bell, Mysterio quickly delivered a 619 to JBL and defeated him in 22-seconds to win the Intercontinental Championship. There wasn't much action in the match, and owing to the short duration, Dave Meltzer didn't give it any rating.
9 Samoa Joe Vs. Rey Mysterio (WrestleMania 35) - Not Rated
After Rey Mysterio pinned United States Champion Samoa Joe in a tag team match on an episode of SmackDown, he earned a US title match against Joe at WrestleMania 35.
Mysterio being the biggest underdog in WWE history, looked to replicate his previous success in the grandest stage of them all in his match against Samoa Joe as well. However, the Samoan Submission Machine was well-prepared for his challenger and locked Mysterio in a Coquina Clutch to make him pass out in 58 seconds to win the match. Dave Meltzer revealed that the reason for the match being too short was because of WWE's efforts to save time and didn't give it any rating.
8 Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio (WrestleMania 19) - 2.25
Rey Mysterio defeated Tajiri and Jamie Noble in a triple threat match on the March 6, 2003, episode of SmackDown to earn a Cruiserweight Championship match against Matt Hardy at WrestleMania 19.
The fans witnessed some back-and-forth action between Mysterio and Hardy at the event. But after Mysterio kicked out of a Twist of Fate and delivered a 619 to Hardy, a distraction by Shannon Moore resulted in Matt Hardy getting the win by rolling up Mysterio for the pin and using the ring ropes for leverage and retaining the title.
7 Cruiserweight Open (WrestleMania 20) - 2.5
At WrestleMania 20, Rey Mysterio competed in the Cruiserweight Open gauntlet match for Chavo Guerrero's Cruiserweight Championship. The other superstars who competed in the match include Akio, Billy Kidman, Funaki, Jamie Noble, Nunzio, Shannon Moore, Tajiri, and Último Dragón.
Mysterio eliminated Billy Kidman and Tajiri from the match before coming face-to-face with the champion Chavo Guerrero. Chavo Classic's presence proved to be too much for Mysterio to handle, as with his assistance Chavo Guerrero was able to pin Rey Mysterio after reversing the latter's sunset flip attempt to retain the title.
6 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (WrestleMania 30) - 3
Rey Mysterio competed in the inaugural Andre the Giant memorial battle royal at WrestleMania 30 and went up against 30 other superstars. Mysterio looked to use his Royal Rumble 2006 victory to his advantage to create history by winning the match and taking home the massive trophy.
Mysterio didn't get to eliminate any superstar from the match but survived for a decent amount of time before getting thrown over the top rope by the eventual winner Cesaro.
5 Rey Mysterio Vs. Cody Rhodes (WrestleMania 27) - 3
After Rey Mysterio broke Cody Rhodes' nose with a 619, making him drop the Dashing gimmick, Rhodes accused Mysterio of forcing him to miss the 2011 Royal Rumble and the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match.
After a series of events, Rhodes challenged Mysterio to a match at WrestleMania 27. Rhodes dominated Mysterio throughout the initial moments of the match, but the latter managed to gain back some momentum later on. Mysterio removed Rhodes' face mask and targeted the assault on his face, but Rhodes removed Mysterio's knee brace and took him out with it before hitting him with a Cross Rhodes for the win.
4 Rey Mysterio Vs. CM Punk (WrestleMania 26) - 3
CM Punk was at the height of his notoriety during his days as the leader of The Straight Edge Society alongside his followers Luke Gallows and Serena. They started a feud with Rey Mysterio in February 2010, which escalated into a personal warfare between them after the group interrupted Rey Mysterio's daughter's birthday segment on SmackDown.
It led to a match between Punk and Mysterio at WrestleMania 26, with the stipulation that if Mysterio loses, he has to join the Straight Edge Society. With Gallows and Serena continuously trying to cause a distraction, Mysterio managed to overcome Punk in a decent match by reversing a GTS attempt into a 619 and a splash for the win.
3 Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio (WrestleMania 21) - 3.25
In a build-up to Eddie Guerrero's heel turn, WWE had Latino Heat take on Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 21. They were the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions at the time but still went on to compete against each other at the event instead of defending the title.
They competed in the opening contest of the night and put on a decent performance for the fans. Both superstars proved to be equals but Mysterio emerged victorious in the end after pinning Eddie Guerrero following a hurricanrana.
2 Logan Paul & The Miz Vs. The Mysterios (WrestleMania 38) - 3.5
Rey Mysterio entered a feud with The Miz following Royal Rumble 2022 and defeated him at the Elimination Chamber PPV. It led to The Miz challenging Rey and Dominik Mysterio to a tag team match at WrestleMania 38 and revealed Logan Paul as his partner.
Logan Paul impressed the fans with his performance at the event, and he continued to infuriate Mysterio by performing Eddie Guerrero's Three Amigos and Frog Splash during the match. The Mysterios managed to take Logan Paul out with a double Frog Splash, only for The Miz to tag in and hit Mysterio with the Skull Crushing Finale to pick up the win.
1 Kurt Angle Vs. Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio (WrestleMania 22) - 3.5
Rey Mysterio earned the biggest opportunity of his career after he won the 2006 Royal Rumble match. He chose to challenge Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22, but Randy Orton inserted himself in the storyline and defeated Mysterio at the 2006 No Way Out PPV to take his WrestleMania opportunity.
However, SmackDown GM Teddy Long re-added Mysterio in the championship match at WrestleMania 22, and Kurt Angle had to defend the title against Orton and Mysterio in a triple threat match at the event. The match lasted 9:19 minutes and saw some back-and-forth action before Mysterio delivered a 619 and a West Coast Pop on Randy Orton to get the pin and captured his first World Championship in WWE.
