11-time WWE World Champion Edge is one of the most well-renowned names in the professional wrestling business. Edge has had a spectacular in-ring career as he moved from being a successful tag team competitor into a certified main eventer. However, Edge's wrestling career hasn't always been plain sailing as he was forced to retire prematurely for nine years after he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis.

The Ultimate Opportunist defied the odds by returning to action at the 2020 Royal Rumble. Edge has looked like his old self, and throughout his career, he has featured in some fantastic storylines. Nevertheless, the Rated-R Superstar has won some major matches on WWE pay-per-views, but he has suffered some defeats in one-on-one pay-per-view matches.

18 Owen Hart

Edge v Owen Hart Breakdown 1998

Edge's first singles match on WWE pay-per-view came against his fellow Canadian Owen Hart at Breakdown: In Your House in September 1998. The King of the Harts had a lot of experience, but Edge did a good job to hang with someone of the caliber of Owen.

They had some decent exchanges here but Edge was distracted by Christian who appeared at ringside. Owen took advantage and he rolled up Edge to win this match.

17 Tiger Ali Singh

Edge has suffered some humiliating losses throughout his legendary career and one of those came at Capital Carnage. Edge competed with Tiger Ali Singh, and nothing noteworthy happened in the match.

It was an average bout and Edge did have some offense but he missed the missile dropkick which proved to be the difference-maker. Tiger prevailed although he put his feet on the ropes for leverage to earn a cheap victory.

16 Jeff Jarrett

In front of his hometown fans in Toronto Canada, Edge defeated Jeff Jarrett for the Intercontinental Championship which was his first piece of silverware in WWE. However, 24 hours later, he defended the gold against Double J at Fully Loaded 1999.

It's easy to forget that Edge held the Intercontinental Championship in 1999 and it was a title reign to forget. His title run wasn't long for this world as he dropped the championship back to Jarrett.

15 Christian

Edge v Christian Unforgiven 2001 Cropped

Christian was jealous of Edge's success and attention which is why he betrayed him and turned heel in September 2001. The former seven-time WWE World Tag Team Champions clashed over Edge's Intercontinental Championship at Unforgiven.

For some reason, the matches between Edge and Christian never caught fire. Ultimately, Christian captured the Intercontinental Championship for the first time after he used a steel chair to low blow Edge.

14 William Regal

Edge v Regal Royal Rumble 2002 Cropped

Edge and William Regal feuded over the Intercontinental Championship and they clashed in three successive pay-per-view matches. At the 2002 Royal Rumble, Regal beat Edge to kickstart his first Intercontinental Championship reign.

The scores were leveled at 1-1 in their matches on pay-per-view, and they settled their feud in a Brass Knuckles on a Pole match at No Way Out. Regal connected with the brass knuckles, and he retained the Intercontinental Championship.

13 Kurt Angle

The rivalry between Edge and Kurt Angle did wonders for Edge to work with someone of the caliber of the Olympic Gold Medalist. Their encounter at Backlash 2002 was off the charts and it's unfortunately overlooked.

Their match went back and forth, and it was an exceptional wrestling match. They kicked out of each other's respective finishers, but Angle managed to seal the deal with an Angle Slam.

12 Eddie Guerrero

The trilogy of matches between Edge and Eddie Guerrero was outstanding in 2002. Latino Heat was out for revenge after he lost to Edge at SummerSlam, and they had a rematch at Unforgiven.

Their match was superb, and both men had their chances to come out on top. Edge speared Eddie into the turnbuckle and they battled on the top rope. Eddie rammed Edge's head in the exposed turnbuckle, and he powerbombed him off the top to pick up the win.

11 Kane

Kane and Edge had a grudge match at Vengeance 2005 as Lita betrayed him to kickstart her relationship with Edge. The pair were evenly matched, and Kane's bitter enemy Snitsky got involved in proceedings.

Edge was Mr. Money in the Bank and he nailed Snitsky with the briefcase which was intended for Kane. Ultimately, the Big Red Machine had the last laugh as he handed Edge his first loss on a singles PPV in almost three years with a Chokeslam.

10 Matt Hardy

The real-life animosity between Edge and Matt Hardy was played out on screen, and the former friends clashed in a steel cage match at Unforgiven 2005. Both men deserve a lot of respect for their efforts as this was a fantastic match.

They pulled out all of the stops to make this a memorable match, and they certainly did. Edge wore the proverbial crimson mask, and Matt executed a leg drop from off the top of the cage to earn the bragging rights in this contest.

9 Ric Flair

Edge challenged Ric Flair for the Intercontinental Championship at New Year's Revolution 2006. The Rated-R Superstar was seeking his sixth run with the gold but it was clear that he wasn't interested in winning the title in the slightest.

The Rated-R Superstar got himself intentionally disqualified but he didn't leave the event beltless. He cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at John Cena's expense to become WWE Champion for the first time in his career.

8 Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam v Edge Vengeance 2006 Cropped

Rob Van Dam and Edge's WWE Championship match at Vengeance 2006 should have closed out the show as it was RVD's first title defense since he beat John Cena for the title at ECW One Night Stand with a helping hand from Edge.

They battled for almost 20 minutes, and it is an underrated WWE Championship match. Edge had a lot of momentum in this match, but RVD successfully retained the title with a Five-Star Frog Splash.

7 John Cena

The rivalry between John Cena and Edge was one of the best in WWE history and their matches were captivating to watch. At the 2006 Royal Rumble, Edge defended the WWE Championship against Cena. Unfortunately, for Edge, his WWE Title reign only lasted three weeks with Cena regaining the title.

Their feud dominated 2006, and they battled once again in a TLC match at Unforgiven. The deck was stacked against Cena with Edge's hometown fans in Toronto cheering him on. However, Cena wasn't fazed by it and he won the WWE Championship for the third time.

6 Triple H

For some reason, Edge and Triple H never had a longstanding feud, and it's disappointing because they are two of the all-time greats. Nevertheless, the Game put the WWE Championship on the line in their meeting at The Great American Bash 2008.

The Rated-R Superstar pushed Triple H in a bid to regain the WWE Championship. Ultimately, the Cerebral Assassin's trademark Pedigree was enough for him to thwart Edge's challenge.

5 The Undertaker

Whilst, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho's feud dominated Raw in 2008, Edge and The Undertaker took care of business on SmackDown. No man has beaten Edge in more pay-per-view matches than the Demon of Death Valley.

Undertaker ended Edge's World Heavyweight Championship reign in the main event of WrestleMania 24, and he followed it up with a successful title defense at Backlash. Undertaker overcame Edge at Judgment Day by count-out for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship, but the feud came to an end with Undertaker beating Edge inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.

4 Jeff Hardy

Two men in Edge and Jeff Hardy who took the ladder match to another level had one last epic against each other at Extreme Rules 2009. The Rated-R Superstar's World Heavyweight Championship was hanging in the balance, and they did not fail to disappoint.

Edge and Hardy produced magic with both men giving it their all. Edge attempted a spear in mid-air but Jeff countered it with Twist of Fate. Nonetheless, Jeff captured the Big Gold Belt with Edge stuck in the ladder.

3 Chris Jericho

Former Unified WWE Tag Team Champions Edge and Chris Jericho slugged it out for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 26. The Rated-R Superstar won the 2010 Royal Rumble match, and he was looking for his 10th World Championship reign.

This was a remarkable World Championship match that went back and forth. Jericho connected with the Codebreaker but Edge kicked out. Ultimately, Y2J retained his title by hitting Edge with the World Heavyweight Championship.

2 Randy Orton

Edge's first major rival when he returned to WWE in 2020 was Randy Orton. The Rated-R Superstar beat Orton at WrestleMania 36 behind closed doors in the Performance Center. They had a rematch at Backlash which was dubbed the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever."

It wasn't the greatest wrestling match ever but Edge and Orton had a superb match that was better than their WrestleMania outing. Unfortunately, Edge spent more time on the sidelines with a torn triceps, and the Viper prevailed.

1 Roman Reigns

Edge was seeking a dirty dozen of World Championship reigns when he challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Money in the Bank 2021. This should have been the main event of WrestleMania 37, but they made up for it here at Money in the Bank.

Edge and Reigns had excellent chemistry together and the atmosphere was electric. Moreover, the Ultimate Opportunist almost put Reigns away with a spear but Seth Rollins intervened. Edge came up short with the Tribal Chief continuing his extraordinary run as Universal Champion.
