WWE fans got their best look at Uncle Howdy so far on SmackDown this week. The mysterious figure, who was believed to be a Bray Wyatt backer until 24 hours ago, joined The Eater Of Worlds in the ring. Stepping up from convincing LA Knight that Wyatt and Howdy are not one and the same, the masked man showed he isn't even on Wyatt's side, attacking him this week.

Who Is Uncle Howdy?

What we still don't know is who exactly it is behind the mask, but there are plenty of theories. The leading idea throughout has been that Bo Dallas is Uncle Howdy. Dallas was released by WWE a while ago and was seemingly done with wrestling entirely. However, the chance to finally work closely with his brother may well have tempted him back.

There are clues suggesting Howdy is Dallas, but a new theory has emerged following the better look at the character on SmackDown this week. Uncle Howdy removed his hat, revealing long blonde hair underneath. If that hair is the character's own, and not a wig, then that might well rule out Dallas. Unless Wyatt's brother has dyed his hair for the role, of course.

Could It Be Edge?

Assuming the hair belongs to the mystery wrestler, and it hasn't been dyed, then some fans have landed on Uncle Howdy being Edge. The hair certainly seems to match up, and The Rated R Superstar has been absent from WWE since losing an I Quit match to Finn Balor at Extreme Rules. The same event on which Wyatt returned, his cast of characters ominously standing in the crowd at the end of the show.

Perhaps WWE is going with the angle that Edge has been gone for a while in search of something dark to help him get appropriate revenge on The Judgment Day. Where this theory falls through is what WWE appears to have planned for Wyatt and Edge. It has now been confirmed Wyatt will take on Knight in a Pitch Black match at Royal Rumble. No connection to The Judgment Day who are on an entirely different show. Not to mention reports suggesting Edge will battle Finn Balor inside Hell in a Cell on the same show.
