For some wrestlers, wearing a mask is everything, especially if you're a Luchador. But in general, wearing a mask is a huge part of a superstar's character. The WWE has not been a huge haven for masks over the years, but they have had some memorable ones. Rey Mysterio immediately comes to mind. Comically, so does Golga from the Oddities. Despite barely covering anything, so did Vader.

While nowhere near as big a part of the wrestling culture in the states as it is in Mexico, there have been plenty of WWE superstars who have gotten over by working under a hood.

10 The Killer Bees

The Killer Bees

The Killer Bees were a mid-80s tag team consisting of Jumping Jim Brunzell and B. Brian Blair (get it - Killer “Bs”). The two territory stars came together as a mid-semi main event level tag team. Their high-flying and technical moves sets were par for the course for tag teams at the time. Long before The Bellas introduced Twin Magic, the Bees used their own brand of magic to win some matches. When they pulled the ol’ switcheroon, they’d put on Bee masks much to the dismay of heel commentator Jesse Ventura, who would call the babyfaces out for the blatant cheating.

9 Max Mini

Max Mini

As WCW was exciting the world with the Cruiserweight division, the WWE began grasping at straws to try and catch up. They formed a brief alliance with AAA and started using all sorts of masked superstars. But the one they tried to center the division on was Max Mini of all people.

With all due respect to little people, they were never going to get over. But the WWE at least tried something new and Max Mini got to have brief enough exposure to be remembered.

8 El Torito

El Torito

Another popular little person wrestler made his debut nearly twenty years after Max Mini. The Colons started paling around with a bull themed Luchador, El Torrito. The lil’ bull would charge around the ring and try to smash Los Matadors’ opponents with his horns. He was able to show that he was much more than just a comedy act during a Wee-LC match he had with fellow little people wrestler, Hornswoggle.

7 Max Moon

Max Moon

Konnan is one of the few huge stars that didn’t get a shot to work in WWE. It wasn’t for lack of trying. The former Wolfpac member had initially signed with WWE in the early nineties to come in as the space age superstar, Max Moon.

However, with the superstar focused more on his career in Mexico and also had concerns with the costume. K-Dogg wouldn’t make it to WWE. Instead, Paul Diamond, who wrestled as masked Superstar Kato of The Orient Express with Badd Company teammate Pat Tanaka, would be the one who donned the gear.

6 Los Conquistadors

Los Conquistadors

The Conquistadors have a unique history in the WWE. They appeared briefly before the 1988 Survivor Series and were nearly un-eliminate-able. They then left the promotion shortly afterwards. They would show up again during The Attitude Era and be used as aliases for Edge and Christian and The Hardys to mess with each other win tag team gold. Even Kurt Angle adopted the gold during his final WWE, making every member of Team ECK the only stable to have adopted the gimmick.

5 Sin Cara

Sin Cara

As Triple H’s first hire, there was a lot riding the signing of Mistico in 2011. Unfortunately he failed a drug test pretty early in his career, he was suspended. The character returned, with someone else under the hood, setting up the eventual Sin Cara Negro Vs. Sin Cara Azul storyline. After a few years, the original Sin Cara decided to head back to Mexico. Meanwhile, the character continued in NXT as one half of the Lucha Dragons.

4 The Patriot

The Patriot

Despite being under a mask, The Patriot also still used his real name, Del Wilkes. The GWF standout got signed by the WWE at the right moment. The Hart Foundation were nasty villainous Canadian heels and the WWE lacked an All-American hero, despite having several other babyfaces. That got him a top spot and even a world title match against Bret Hart at an excellent match at WWE Ground Zero.

3 Ultimo Dragon

Ultimo Dragon

For years, The Ultimo Dragon toured the globe as one of the greatest innovators of the fast-paced and high-flying Cruiserweight style. He even arrived in WCW, with every conceivable Light Heavyweight title you could possibly win (including a WWE title the company hadn’t recognized in a dog’s age!) one of his goals was to one day make it to Madison Square Garden; which he got to do At WrestleMania 20, as part of the Cruiserweight Open. He unfortunately tripped during his ring entrance, which may have also spelled the end of his WWE run.

2 The Executioner

Executioner

There have been several wrestlers over the years to don a mask and all themselves The Executioner. In the WWE, Playboy Buddy Rose worked the gimmick at the first ever WrestleMania. Years later, Michael Hayes and others lobbied for Terry Gordy to get a shot.

But since had suffered brain damage during a flight, he was a mere shell of the performer that he used to be. To protect his legacy and give him a fair shot, he too wore The Executioner’s mask and got to work against The Undertaker.

1 The Undertaker

Undertaker Mask

The Undertaker wore a mask several times throughout his career. As The Phenom, he wore one resembling The Phantom Of The Opera thanks to Mabel breaking his orbital bone. But he actually started his career with Percy Pringle as his manager. He was then known as Texas Red and got put in his place by the legendary Bruiser Brody.
