A fantastic David vs Goliath story from Gunther and Ricochet here at PWG’s All Star Weekend 13. A surprisingly excellent blend of styles with heel Ricochet’s high-flying style opposite Gunther’s size and force, as their chemistry was apparent immediately.

Stellar in-ring work overall with fluid sequences and great back and forth, as Ricochet emerged victorious with a roll-up as both men came out looking strong. Splendid bout top to bottom.

9 W/ Timothy Thatcher Vs. Brody King & Tyler Bateman, PWG All Star Weekend 14 – Night 1, 4.5*

An outstanding tag team bout at PWG’s All Star Weekend 14, with all four men bringing their all in a war. The crowd was red-hot with spectacular in-ring work overall, with the crowd particularly going berserk for the incredible interaction between Gunther and Brody King.

Thatcher and Bateman were great as well, however, with a stellar pace and a blistering closing stretch as Ringkampf secure the win in just under twenty minutes.

8 Vs. Jordan Devlin, OTT World Title, OTT WrestleRama 2, 4.5*

An exceptional promo package heading into this Over The Top Wrestling bout for the OTT World Title, with a huge fight feel here as promotion hero Devlin defends against the monster Gunther. The dynamic was simply incredible with the Ireland crowd white-hot for Devlin and despising Gunther as Devlin fought back valiantly with fiery comebacks to counter Gunther’s monstrous, dominant offense.

The match was paced superbly and built to the final third perfectly, which was off the charts in every way. The in-ring work was spectacular as were the drama and near-falls. The emotion was overwhelming as the crowd and commentators cheered Devlin on, only for him to succumb to the Sleeper Hold in a shockingly epic moment. Superb top to bottom.

7 Vs. Tommaso Ciampa, NXT UK Championship, NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver – Day 1, 4.5*

An absolute war between Gunther and Tommaso Ciampa here for the NXT UK Championship, with superb in-ring action in a blistering 16-minute bout. The strikes and huge maneuvers were brutal, with Ciampa targeting the hand and Gunther selling it tremendously.

Simply sensational storytelling and psychology despite the shorter length of the match, with Ciampa doing everything to disarm his opponent’s brute force. The finish was also a nice touch as Gunther won with a chop rather than a finishing move in triumphant fashion to retain.

6 Vs. Will Ospreay, OTT World Title, OTT Fourth Anniversary Show, 4.75*

Utterly incredible match from Gunther and Will Ospreay here, as Gunther defended his OTT World Title against ‘The Aerial Assassin’. A brilliant clash of styles as Gunther once again displayed his tremendous ability as a monster heel, opposite Ospreay’s electrifying offense.

Gunther’s work on top was splendid as the crowd cheered Ospreay on who valiantly fought back with a superb blend of his high-flying and more physical offense. Simply perfect storytelling as the atmosphere was off the charts, building to a highly dramatic final third as the men traded bombs back and forth. The false finish and ref bump were also executed very well here, as Gunther retained with a splash in an epic main event.

5 Vs. Pete Dunne, WWE United Kingdom Championship, NXT TakeOver: New York, 4.75*

An epic battle between Pete Dunne, now known as Butch, and Gunther here at 2019’s NXT TakeOver: New York in Gunther’s TakeOver debut. With Dunne’s WWE United Kingdom Championship on the line, the stakes were high in this second-ever meeting between the two. A superb dynamic and story as Dunne used his technical prowess to disarm the incredibly hard-hitting Gunther.

Both men brutalized the other with huge strikes, submissions, and maneuvers in spectacular fashion, but it was Gunther prevailing to become champion ending Dunne’s 685-day-reign in a war.

4 Vs. Zack Sabre Jr., PWG All Star Weekend 13 - Night 2, 5*

Spectacular bout between Gunther and Zack Sabre Jr. at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s All Star Weekend 13 back in 2017. The storytelling was remarkable as they told a classic David vs Goliath story, with Gunther landing stiff strikes throughout opposite Sabre Jr.’s technical prowess as he targeted Gunther’s arms.

The PWG crowd was red-hot as always as both men sold each other’s offense superbly. A tremendous finish as well, as Gunther counters a vintage Sabre Jr. bridge pinfall into a Sleeper Hold for the submission victory. An instant classic between Gunther and Sabre Jr. in PWG.

3 Vs. Ilja Dragunov, NXT UK Championship, NXT UK TV #116, 5*

This was an instant classic as Gunther defended his NXT UK Championship against long-time Westside Xtreme Wrestling rival Ilja Dragunov, in one of the most brutal matches to ever take place in WWE. Unbelievable physicality as these two waged war, with one of Gunther’s most dominant, spectacular performances, but Dragunov matched him every step of the way valiantly fighting back in a star-affirming performance of determination.

Shockingly stiff lariats, chops, forearms, headbutts, suplexes, this was a masterclass of epic proportions. The brutality continued throughout as both men gave their all with incredible drama, only for Gunther to prevail forcing a referee stoppage with the Sleeper in a spectacle of physicality. A classic on NXT UK free-to-air television.

2 Vs. Tyler Bate, WWE United Kingdom Championship, NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff, 5.25*

This was an absolute classic as Gunther defended his WWE United Kingdom Championship against Tyler Bate at NXT UK’s TakeOver: Cardiff. A superb story of the monster heel against the home country babyface with a white-hot Cardiff crowd cheering on Bate. For an almost 45-minute-match, the pacing was expertly executed with rarely a dull moment throughout.

The drama and intensity were other-worldly, especially in the final third. The in-ring work was simply a wrestling clinic with brutal strikes, maneuvers, spots, everything landed its mark to perfection. The babyface performance from Bate was off the charts as the crowd roared for him throughout, particularly in the amazing final ten minutes as Bate fought valiantly only to succumb to Gunther. A masterpiece from Gunther and Bate here.

A masterpiece once again from these two in their much-anticipated NXT rematch at TakeOver 36 for the NXT UK Championship. With Gunther reigning for 870 days, the stakes were incredibly high with the restricted crowd fully behind Dragunov. Another war waged here with Dragunov having Gunther scouted this time around, with utter brutality back and forth as the two traded huge strikes and maneuvers of all kinds.

The emotion and atmosphere were off the charts as Dragunov survived everything Gunther had in store in a tremendous performance, with superb storytelling throughout alongside the blistering in-ring action. The final third was unbelievable with incredible near falls and selling as Dragunov wrenched on the neck with a Standing Sleeper forcing Gunther to tap out in an epic moment. An utter classic as Dragunov emerges as NXT UK Champion.
