WWE has hired someone to take over most of Stephanie McMahon's duties following the company's chief branding officer taking a leave of absence. Stephanie announced her decision to step away from the promotion in a social media post on May 19, revealing her intention to temporarily relinquish the majority of her responsibilities.Related: Most Of Stephanie McMahon's Staff Got Released During WWE's Budget CutsThere are multiple sides to this story right now, with claims of Vince McMahon initiating the departure having surfaced recently. Opposing reports have stated that Vince wants to bury Stephanie now that she's stepped away and is feeding the narrative of her being handed her marching orders when, in fact, it was 100 percent her decision.Stephanie McMahon WWE An unnamed WWE insider has also claimed the company wasn't seeing enough growth, which is the reason for Stephanie no longer having involvement. “Family or not family, we’ve got to get the right people in place," the source was quoted as saying to Business Insider. "We weren’t seeing that growth. When someone is moved out of a company, it’s usually the result of something not working. We took stronger control of that a few months ago.”

Enter Catherine Newman

WWE has now announced the appointment of Catherine Newman as the new EVP and head of marketing. The role doesn't carry the same name as the one Stephanie held but, according to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, “she’s basically taking over most of Stephanie’s duties, so she’s the replacement.”

Newman previously worked as the chief marketing officer for Premier League club Manchester United and, before that, spent almost five years at Rupert Murdoch's News UK.

"WWE® (NYSE: WWE) today announced that Catherine Newman has been named Executive Vice President and Head of Marketing," WWE said in a press release earlier this week. "Newman brings more than two decades of executive experience to WWE including her most recent role as Chief Marketing Officer of Manchester United Media.

"As part of WWE’s senior leadership team, Newman’s oversight will include Marketing, Brand, Community Relations, Entertainment Relations, Creative Services and Photography."

How this appointment affects Stephanie's future at WWE is unknown.

On another note, Catherine sort of really kinda looks like Becky Lynch...
