In the summer of 2001, Jeff Hardy defeated Jerry Lynn to become Light Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career. This chapter of Hardy's career is rarely spoken about but it gave him a chance to shine as a singles competitor.

One of the biggest threats to Hardy's Light Heavyweight Title was X-Pac. They engaged in a remarkable contest at King of the Ring 2001 that saw Hardy retain the title. However, X-Pac didn't make the same mistake twice as he defeated Hardy for the gold just 24 hours later on Raw.

The storied rivalry between The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian is one of the best tag team rivalries in WWE history. They have met in countless high-profile matches, and they squared off in a ladder match on the September 25, 2000 edition of Raw just 24 hours removed from Unforgiven.

Jeff Hardy is one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time by holding the prestigious title on six separate occasions. That's an extraordinary record for The Rainbow-haired Warrior. However, as many remember that his first reign came when he upset Triple H on an episode of SmackDown in April 2001.

What many forget is that 20 years later, Hardy still holds the record as the youngest Intercontinental Champion. He captured the gold when he was just 23 years, 222 days. Randy Orton was also 23 when he won the Intercontinental Title from Rob Van Dam but he was four months shy of his 24th birthday.

The 2018 WWE Superstar Shake-up was full of surprises on the April 16, 2018 edition of Raw. Jeff Hardy challenged Jinder Mahal for the United States Championship. The Modern-Day Maharaja had just won the belt in a fatal-4-way match at WrestleMania 34.

Nevertheless, Hardy was drafted back to SmackDown and he was looking to become a Grand Slam Champion for the second time but first under the new format. They engaged in a decent match but much to the delight of the fans, Hardy captured the United States Title for the first time in his career.

5 Brief Heel Run In 2003

After the fallout of the brand split in 2002, Jeff Hardy's booking was slightly wayward. The highlight during this time frame was Hardy pushing Undertaker to the brink of defeat in their ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

However, Jeff briefly turned heel when he assaulted the likes of Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels. Hardy has never worked as a heel as he is universally loved by the fans. Of course, he was reverted as a babyface but he was released from his contract in WWE.

4 Beat Undertaker In An Extreme Rules Match

Jeff Hardy was finally getting his chance to shine on the upper echelons of the card during his stint on SmackDown in 2008. Hardy collided with The Undertaker in an Extreme Rules match on the November 14, 2008, edition of SmackDown during WWE's tour of the United Kingdom.

3 Romance Angle With Trish Stratus

Despite being rivals with Jeff Hardy being affiliated with Trish Stratus' rival Lita as part of Team Xtreme, Jeff and Trish actually had a positive reaction towards each other. In 2001 they grew close to each other but the angle was dropped for no apparent reason which was a shame.

Nevertheless, they revisited this angle in 2003 as The Charismatic Enigma would come to Trish's aid to save her from attacks. Unfortunately, this angle curtailed prematurely as Jeff was released from his WWE contract in April, and wouldn't return for three years.

2 Feud With Matt Hardy In 2001

After Jeff Hardy failed to climb out of the cage at Survivor Series 2001, which would have secured The Hardys, the Undisputed Tag Team Championship, The Hardys began feuding. Their rivalry in 2001 is barely remembered compared to their feud in 2009 as this one only lasted a few weeks.

Matt turned heel and Lita was caught in the middle as the special referee in their match at Vengeance. Jeff and Matt had superb chemistry together and they actually had a decent match at Vengeance. Jeff prevailed, and their feud ended with The Hardys reuniting as Undertaker took them out alongside Lita.

1 Number One Entrant In The 2001 Royal Rumble Match

The 2001 Royal Rumble match was Jeff Hardy's first taste of competing in this titular bout. However, if Jeff was going to headline WrestleMania, he had to do it from the unenviable number one spot.

This was one of the greatest Royal Rumble matches in WWE history which is fondly remembered for Kane's dominant performance by eliminating a record 13 competitors. Stone Cold Steve Austin went on to win the match but it's easy to forget that Hardy entered the match first.
