Just two weeks removed from winning his 16th World Championship at the 2017 Royal Rumble, John Cena defended his newly won title inside the Elimination Chamber. He had five hungry challengers in Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, The Miz, and Baron Corbin. Cena had to go all the way if he was going to retain his title as he began proceedings with Styles.

Cena had a good outing here, and he eliminated his old foe The Miz with the Attitude Adjustment. However, his 13th WWE Championship run didn't go according to plan as he was eliminated by the eventual winner Bray Wyatt with Sister Abigail.

7 John Cena Vs. Seth Rollins - SummerSlam 2015 (4.5 Stars)

John Cena and Seth Rollins collided in a Winner Take All match for Cena's United States Championship and Rollins' WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2015. This was by far the best match of the night, and they should have closed out the show but The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar's hotly anticipated rematch got the nod to go on last.

Cena and Rollins' chemistry together is effortless, and Cena was on the hunt for his 16th World Championship. Big Match John connected with the AA but Rollins kicked out. The turning point of the match was the host of SummerSlam, Jon Stewart running down the aisle, and he struck Cena with a steel chair. The Architect capitalized, and he became the first man to hold the WWE and United States Championships simultaneously.

6 John Cena Vs. Edge Vs. Shawn Michaels Vs. Randy Orton - Backlash 2007 (4.5 Stars)

Four of the all-time great competitors' John Cena, Edge, Shawn Michaels, and Randy Orton slugged it out for the WWE Championship in the main event of Backlash 2007. This match was off the charts with all four doing their very best to escape with the WWE Championship.

Cena had to battle hard here, and he happened to be in the right place at the right time. HBK connected with Sweet Chin Music on Cena, and an unconscious Cena fell back onto Orton in a successful title defense.

5 John Cena Vs. Edge - Backlash 2009 (4.5 Stars)

The rivalry between John Cena and Edge had gone on for the better part of three years, and the pair's feud was coming to an end in a Last Man Standing match. Cena put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line with the Rated-R Superstar determined to recapture the title he lost to Cena at WrestleMania 25.

Once again, Cena and Edge constructed another high-level match. This was arguably the best match in their series of matches. Cena got the crowd involved literally by dumping Edge into the crowd with the Attitude Adjustment. They navigated their way to the top of the stage with Cena hoisting Edge on his shoulders for the AA. However, Big Show interfered, and he chokeslammed Cena through a spotlight. Cena was unable to answer the count of 10, and the Rated-R Superstar regained the World Heavyweight Championship.

4 John Cena Vs. Daniel Bryan - SummerSlam 2013 (4.5 Stars)

Two of the biggest babyfaces in WWE at the time, John Cena and Daniel Bryan were on a collision course for the WWE Championship. The COO of WWE, Triple H oversaw proceedings as the special guest referee. Bryan had a slight advantage as Cena had an elbow injury, but credit has to be given to Cena for battling through the pain barrier, and putting Bryan over in an exceptional match.

Bryan connected with the Running Knee to earn a clean victory over Cena and to secure his first WWE Championship reign. His joy was short-lived as Triple H turned heel and executed the Pedigree with Randy Orton cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase to once again hold the WWE Title.

3 John Cena Vs. Brock Lesnar Vs. Seth Rollins - Royal Rumble 2015 (4.75 Stars)

The Royal Rumble match is always the main selling point of Royal Rumble cards, but that all changed at the 2015 Royal Rumble with Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Championship against John Cena and Seth Rollins in a triple threat match. This triple threat match was off the charts, and it is one of the best that WWE has produced.

The Beast Incarnate was removed from the equation early on as Rollins put him through the broadcast table. Nevertheless, the action was breathtaking, and Lesnar refused to give up on his WWE Championship reign as he dropped Rollins with a jaw-dropping F5 en route to retaining the WWE Title.

John Cena had been waiting almost three years to win his record-equaling 16th World Championship, and he challenged AJ Styles for the gold at the 2017 Royal Rumble. This was the third match in their trilogy and this was unquestionably the biggest and best of those matches.

Cena hoisted Styles on his shoulders and he drove him into the mat with an Avalanche AA. Styles kicked out, and this WWE Championship match was mesmerizing. This would have been the perfect main event to end the show. Nevertheless, the wait was finally over, and Cena connected with the Attitude Adjustment to secure a record-equaling 16th World Championship.

1 John Cena Vs. CM Punk - Money In The Bank 2011 (5 Stars)

CM Punk received a hero's welcome when he entered the Allstate Arena in his hometown of Chicago in his WWE Championship match with John Cena at Money in the Bank 2011. The Second City Saint was a former three-time World Heavyweight Champion but he didn't have a long run on top as a main eventer. This match and night changed that, and Punk had the performance of a lifetime.

There was a caveat as his contract "expired" after the show. They told a remarkable story, and Cena had the whole crowd against him. The roof almost blew off the Allstate Arena, when Punk put Cena away with GTS to win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career.
