Dave Bautista has already transitioned away from professional wrestling and into a life of acting in Hollywood. Batista has already chalked up several impressive acting credits, including appearances in the James Bond movie franchise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune.

However, before Batista became an actor he was a multiple-time World Champion in WWE. Batista first signed a developmental contract in 2000 and wrestled for 10 years before departing in 2010. Batista would briefly return in 2014 and a second time in 2018-2019. Following his match at WrestleMania 35 against Triple H, Batista announced that he was retired from professional wrestling. While Batista wasn't clean skin when he started wrestling, the range of tattoos now covers a significant part of his body, having acquired multiple new tattoos during his wrestling career.

Honorable Mention: Batista briefly had a tattoo dedicated to Champion boxer and fellow Filipino Manny Pacquiao. Following homophobic remarks made by Pacquiao, Batista stated that he could no longer support his former friend and had the tattoo of Pacquiao's team logo covered up.

Running up the side of Batista's left bicep is the word 'Angel', written in the Japanese Kanji alphabet. The tattoo is one of Batista's oldest tattoos and was done as a tribute to his second wife, Angie. Batista has been married three times, his first marriage was to a woman named Glenda, and his most recent marriage was to a woman named Sarah-Jade. Batista and Angie were married from 1998 until their divorce in 2006. Even after their divorce, Batista still referred to Angie as the "love of his life" in his 2007 memoirs called Batista Unleashed.

Batista also admitted to cheating on Angie in the book, stating that financial hardship and constantly needing to travel essentially broke their relationship.

Batista has another tattoo covering his left elbow with the Filipino sun tattoo. The sun symbol represents Filipino liberty from Spain in the late 19th century. The sun has eight rays, representing the eight regions that rebelled against Spanish rule. Batista is Filipino though his father, David Michael Bautista Sr. Batista's grandparents immigrated to the United States from the Philippines and Batista has always had a sense of pride in representing the country.

With WWE, Batista was able to travel to and perform in the Philippines during his professional wrestling career and has spoken about his Pinoy ancestry during interviews for his movie roles. The tattoo is one of three dedicated to his Filipino heritage.

In 2019, Batista had the words 'Love is Louder' tattooed along the upper-right side of his chest. The tattoo is about a campaign run by the Jed Foundation, a charity that aims to prevent self-harm and suicide in teens and young adults in America.

The Love is Louder campaign sought to target bullying in schools and was co-founded by actress Brittany Snow. Batista reportedly struggled with mental health issues when he was growing up, and states that bodybuilding saved his life.

Over time, Batista's tattoos have gotten more intricate and he has often had past works covered up with newer tattoos. When Batista started his career in professional wrestling, he had a small sun tattoo that circled his belly button. Batista has since covered that with an even larger tattoo that covers his abs. The tattoo now features a range of different images including two ravens, Medusa, a skull, and the number '202'.

While it is unclear what the significance of the ravens, skulls, and Medusa is, the number does appear to have some significance for the Animal. 202 is the area code for Washington D.C, the area where Batista grew up. Batista has always maintained a connection to the city and has been billed from there his entire career.

As previously stated, Batista is incredibly proud of his heritage. Batista's father was the son of immigrants from the Philippines, while his mother is of Greek descent.

While Batista has already had a chance to visit the Philippines and learned more about his family's history, he admitted to wanting to do the same with his Greek side of the family, eventually. As a tribute to his unique heritage, Batista has a tattoo of the Greek and Filipino flags side-by-side on his left shoulder.

In 2015, Batista got married for the third time to a competitive pole dancer named Sarah Jade. Batista confirmed the nuptials by posting a photo of their wedding on his Twitter account. While the couple was together, Batista got Sarah Jade's name tattooed on his hand, and a portrait of her face to cover a tattoo of Manny Pacquiao's team logo. The portrait covers most of his left forearm and has her face covered in Dias de los Muertos facepaint.

4 Washington DC Is Not A State, It's A State Of Mind

As previously mentioned, Batista has a strong connection to Washington DC. When Batista made a return to WWE in 2018, he did so on the 1,000th episode of SmackDown, which took place in Washington DC, where Batista is a popular figure. During the episode, Batista would lay down the foundations for his feud with Triple H, which culminated in a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania 35.

Batista has numerous tattoos dedicated to his hometown, including a tattoo running down his right forearm which states "Washington DC is not a State, it's a State of Mind" referring to the fact that Washington DC lacks statehood and is treated as a district within the United States. This means that the capitol lacks representation in the Senate, and its laws go through congress, instead of via a state house. Batista has a separate tattoo dedicated to Washington DC, with the words DC Soldier tattooed on the inside of his right bicep.

A tattoo of famous actress Marilyn Monroe occupies a space on Batista's left forearm. Batista got the tattoo in 2012 and admitted online that he is a huge fan of Monroe's, calling himself a 'groupie'.

Monroe passed away in 1962 at the age of 36 after overdosing on barbituates roughly seven years before Batista was born in 1969. Even though their lives never overlapped, the two-time Royal Rumble winner is a big fan of the legendary blonde bombshell.

In 2015, Batista played the villainous henchman Mr. Hinx in the James Bond movie Spectre. In the movie, Batista's character is the top assassin for Spectre, a secret organization led by James Bond's greatest villain Blofeld. The name of the organization stands for Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion. The film was the second Bond film directed by Sam Mendes and the fourth starring Daniel Craig as James Bond.

After the movie was released, Batista got the logo for Spectre tattooed on the middle finger of his right hand alongside a logo for the Wu-tang Clan, and the Guardians of the Galaxy Logos. Batista also has a logo for Superman, the Sith Empire, and the avengers along the fingers of his left hand. Batista was reportedly cast in Suicide Squad but backed out to film Army of the Dead instead.

According to Batista, the former WWE Champions' favorite tattoo is currently unfinished. On his right thigh, Batista has a tattoo of his three former dogs, two that passed away and a third that lives with his ex-wife. Batista has stated that he plans to add his current dogs to the tattoo, having left space to add them to the mural but has not done so yet. Batista has had five dogs altogether, including pit bulls Frankie, Sadie, Ollie, Maggie, and Penny, as well as a Catahoula named Janie.

Batista's most recent adoption, Penny, was rescued after being abused by her former owner. After rescuing her, Batista posted to social media offering a reward for anyone who could help him find the person responsible for abusing her.
