The Invasion angle following WWE’s purchase of WCW was certainly a noteworthy one, even if it wasn’t great in the long run. WWE television was hectic, allegiances were changing left, right, and centre, with WWE having perhaps the most star-studded collection of wrestlers the world had ever seen.RELATED: 10 Forgotten Wrestlers From WWE's Invasion Storyline: Where Are They Now?“The Alliance” was a faction initially led by Shane McMahon, with the group quickly turning heel in an attempt to destroy WWE. The WCW wrestlers later teamed with a selection of ECW wrestlers, who in turn formed the Alliance. When looking at the next several months, an array of names across every brand and company would come and go from the group, making for some convoluted TV, with 10 of those names being looked at here, to see where they are almost twenty years later.

10 Booker T

Coming into WWE, Booker T was the reigning WCW World Heavyweight Champion, making him one of the biggest acquisitions, and a main player in The Alliance, with him becoming the inaugural leader of the group.

Following the invasion, he would continue his WWE career, with his most memorable stint being as King Booker. Today, he is under contract with WWE, mostly doing work on Kick-Offs panels, with the occasional cameo on commentary. The two-time Hall of Famer also has his own podcast.

9 Tazz

AEW Taz

Tazz was a popular name in ECW, but never really managed to make too much of an impact in WWE. He found a comfortable home on commentary after a while, being one of the voices of Smackdown for some time.

He is now in AEW, commentating, and leading his own stable which includes the likes of Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. His son, Hook, is now an active competitor on AEW’s roster, with his stature and popularity growing by the week.

8 Nick Patrick

Nick Patrick Deep South Wrestling

It wasn’t just wrestlers that were a part of The Alliance, but referees were too. Nick Patrick was a heel referee who often helped The Alliance to victory, and he even competed in a match against Earl Hebner at the wacky, ridiculous, and messy Invasion PPV.

He has sporadically officiated matches on the independent scene over the years, and in more recent times, has helped to start up Deep South Wrestling once again, which was formally one of WWE’s developmental territories.

7 Diamond Dallas Page

DDP wrestling in AEW

DDP will forever go down as one of the most misused wrestlers who made the switch from WCW to WWE, with the company never really taking him too seriously, with his run mired by bad booking.

In more recent years, DDP has been notable at helping the careers of several older and former wrestlers with his DDP Yoga, which has changed the lives of the likes of Jake “The Snake” Roberts. In 2022, he has also started up a podcast alongside Roberts.

6 Torrie Wilson

Torrie Wilson Hall Of Fame

Torrie Wilson was brought over to WWE following the purchase of WCW, and she made her debut as part of The Alliance, feuding with the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus, until she eventually turned face and joined the WWE side of things.

Wilson is now a WWE Hall of Famer, making rare cameo appearances, notably during the 2019 and 2021 Royal Rumble matches. Outside of wrestling, she is a fitness instructor, amongst other ventures.

5 William Regal

William Regal Debuts In Aew

William Regal was the Raw Commissioner during the time of the Invasion, and he played a comedic character for a little while. He eventually turned heel, siding with The Alliance in his authority role. He would notably become a member of Vince McMahon’s “Kiss My Ass Club” in order to remain employed by WWE, after The Alliance had been defeated.

Regal was employed by WWE all the way up until very recently, in a variety of roles. After being released, he joined AEW to head the Blackpool Combat Club faction, which has been one of the major highlights on AEW TV in recent months.

4 The Hurricane

The Hurricane, Royal Rumble 2021

Before he became the popular comedy superhero, “The Hurricane”, “Gregory Helms” debuted in WWE as part of The Alliance, holding the Cruiserweight Championship around the time of the WCW acquisition.

He is now under a WWE’s legends contract, working behind the scenes with the company, with this coming shortly after a brief cameo appearance in AEW and the 2021 Royal Rumble.

After initially turning babyface to join team WWE to fight off the invaders from WCW and ECW, Austin became a heel once again, joining The Alliance and becoming their leader.

Austin recently made a huge comeback to a WWE ring by competing in a match in the main event of WrestleMania 38, defeating Kevin Owens. He continues to deliver the Broken Skull Sessions podcast on the WWE Network, in addition to other TV projects.

2 RVD

RVD Hall Of Fame

RVD was a huge name in ECW with a strong following, so seeing him turn heel during the Invasion was strange to see, with fans not entirely buying his heel persona. He was booked strongly during this time however, picking wins over big names.

He now wrestles sporadically on the independent scene, after leaving Impact in 2020, and was also recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, which is something he no doubt deserves.

1 Christian

Christian Cage AEW

Christian was one of the initial members of WWE’s roster that switched sides and turned to the Alliance, in turn ending his popular tag team with Edge. The two went their separate ways, with Edge turning face. This led to the pair feuding over the next few months, with the Intercontinental Championship changing hands between them.

In 2022, Christian is still wrestling, despite an early retirement a few years back due to injury. He made a return in 2021, signing with AEW and teaming up with Jurassic Express, acting as a mouthpiece and mentor, with Christian not missing a beat since he came back.
