It is still the early days in the rebrand of NXT, but there are plenty of positives and areas for improvement early on. The decision to switch things up for the show was clearly needed with the ratings dropping and things feeling a little stagnant with each episode.

While some things have stayed the same with NXT 2.0, there have been some clear differences already with the show. It has certainly got people talking, whether they enjoy the new product or not, and that is something that has helped overall as fans being interested again is a good thing, but there are also areas that still need to be fixed.

10 We Like: The Brighter Look

One of the most obvious changes that WWE opted to make was switching up the set for NXT. The reliance on black and gold was thrown out and instead a much fresher, brighter look has been used featuring a lot of colors, which is something that has been appreciated.

The set looks much bigger and sleeker, and there is no doubt that it is an improvement. The previous arena was very dark and didn't highlight the fans well, which is why this is a smarter look that feels a lot more professional overall.

9 We Don't: Short Matches

Something that hasn't been great about NXT 2.0 so far is how rushed some of the matches and segments have been. Because WWE is attempting to cram a lot into the episodes in order to introduce the new wrestlers, it means that things are being rushed.

Because of that, the match length has been hurt so far. Having lots of short-paced matches has brought energy to the show, but it hasn't allowed for detailed matches to take place, which is something that NXT is typically known for.

8 We Like: Experienced Stars Still Used

With NXT 2.0 clearly going in a new direction in terms of bringing in a lot of young talent that needs development, there were concerns for the older established names. However, so far those worries have been put to one side, as WWE has done a great job of showcasing the more experienced talents.

Tomasso Ciampa and Roderick Strong winning titles is a clear sign that WWE isn't going to be pushing out the bigger stars just for the sake of it. In fact, there has been a great mix of segments that have brought the older wrestlers together with the new stars, clearly to pass on their experience first-hand, which is something that will benefit everybody.

7 We Don't: Forgetting Steiner's Legacy

Bron Breaker has been a great part of the NXT 2.0 product so far and he has been heavily featured in both episodes. It's clear that WWE has got high hopes for him as a talent and fans have got behind him which is great to see.

However, the one problem that there has been with him is the fact WWE decided to change his name. He is actually the son of Rick Steiner and was originally working as Rex Steiner which is a cooler name and would help him get over more due to the legacy of his father.

Featuring the women's division is something NXT has typically been very good at doing over the years, but it has been good to see that isn't changing with NXT 2.0. So far the show has really pushed the division with a lot of different storylines taking place.

This has seen title rivalries and non-title storylines featured which has been a joy to watch as it allows lots of women the chance to showcase themselves. With new talents being brought up, there are plenty of fresh characters as well which is making the division truly exciting.

5 We Don't: Same Commentary Team

There is nothing wrong with the commentary team in NXT right now, with Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, and Beth Phoenix having nice chemistry together. However, they are one of the only things that haven't been changed with this rebrand.

With the WWE Draft coming up, this would've been a good chance to move one of them to the main roster in order to provide a fresh voice to the brand new NXT product. It would have been a nice touch to go alongside all the other changes, but WWE opted to leave this alone.

4 We Like: Edgier Product

Toxic Attraction in NXT Cropped

Something that has been reported for NXT 2.0 is the fact that the product is set to become a lot edgier. While the new show is only two weeks in, that is something that has been clearly felt already, which is a good thing for the product.

From bad language being used to the way that certain characters have been portrayed, the show hasn't felt as clean and constricted to PG rules as it had in the past. This has been a refreshing situation and hopefully, that is only going to continue, allowing NXT to be different from Raw and SmackDown.

3 We Don't: Tony D'Angelo

tony-dangelo Cropped

While Tony D'Angelo has only been shown in a couple of backstage vignettes so far, the character doesn't feel like one that has got legs to last a long time. It feels very over the top and something that would have fit into WWE 20 years ago, rather than today.

Of course, there is time for things to develop and the gimmick could end up being brilliant once it gets to television, but for now, it is one that isn't quite connecting and doesn't feel overly exciting.

2 We Like: Lots Of New Stars

Von Wagner with William Regal Cropped

One of the most exciting parts of the show so far is the fact that WWE has brought in a whole host of new stars. WWE is clearly pushing NXT back to being focused on developmental, and that is a good thing as the company should be using NXT in this manner to help bring in Performance Center stars.

The first two episodes have seen a lot of wrestlers make their debuts for the company and it has kept the product exciting. Fans don't know what's coming next and that's something that should make every fan happy as there are going to be lots of new wrestlers to enjoy.

1 We Like: Character Development

Joe Gacy in NXT 2.0 Cropped

While WWE has brought a lot of wrestlers into the show so far, they haven't just thrown them into the deep end and forgotten about them. The new wrestlers have been given the chance to actually develop their personalities and give fans a glimpse into what they are going to be like.

This has taken place either in promos, backstage segments, or vignettes, and the mixture of them has allowed the show to have a nice flow as there are lots of different aspects to it. But having this detailed character development is something that used to happen a lot in NXT's early days, which is going to be a positive for the brand.
