NXT UK as a brand can sometimes feel like it's tucked away in a corner, more or less forgotten by WWE. However, the roster has some very talented athletes, most notably the brand's current world champions, Ilja Dragunov and Meiko Satomura, along with some intriguing storylines. One of the brand's most compelling storylines has just kicked off on the June 16 episode of NXT UK.

Having two former best friends fight is a simple, effective way to get the audience emotionally involved. Plus, a wrestler turning heel on their best friend is an almost guaranteed way to get them some monstrous heat. This is likely what's in store for Trent Seven, formerly one-half of Mustache Mountain alongside Tyler Bate.

Mustache Mountain Crumbles

WWE tends to have an issue when it comes to keeping their tag teams together; oftentimes their tag divisions are treated as afterthoughts, and teams break up almost as soon as they're formed. For a while, Mustache Mountain was an anomaly in that regard. That all ended today, however.

The breakup of Mustache Mountain was foreseeable for a little while now, especially since Mustache Mountain lost their NXT UK Tag Team Championships earlier this month to Ashton Smith and Oliver. By turning heel on his former tag team partner, Trent Seven has put an end to Mustache Mountain's 7-year run as a duo.

What's Next For Tyler And Trent?

As a single heel, perhaps Trent Seven can challenge the current NXT UK Champion, Ilja Dragunov. There's also a chance that WWE wanted to break up Mustache Mountain because they intend on bringing either Trent Seven or Tyler Bate over to the American NXT brand.

Whatever the creative reasoning behind the split was, it doesn't make the heartbreak hurt any less. Mustache Mountain was one of the most prominent, most beloved tag teams to come out of the UK wrestling scene in recent memory.
