Now that the 2.0 version of NXT has comfortably settled in as the new normal, so to speak, it's only a matter of time until select talents are called up to the main roster. If you look at the developmental brand, just one year ago, you will see a vastly different landscape than the one that currently exists.

However, the stone cold reality is that many of the new crop of NXT talents are decidedly green, and far from being ready for primetime on either Raw Or Smackdown. In some cases, it actually may be that NXT needs certain wrestlers, more than the Main Roster, i.e. Bron Breakker or Grayson Waller. Here are 5 NXT wrestlers who are ready for the Main Roster, and 5, who are not.

10 Cora Jade - Not Ready

Cora Jade has shown greater potential than most, in a relatively brief period of time. Her gutsy performance at NXT WarGames. was one of the most memorable and acclaimed of the entire night. She is still extremely young and rather inexperienced, though. Also, her AJ Lee-lite gimmick may need to be somewhat revamped before moving up to the bright lights. Having said all this, Cora is easily one of the most can't miss prospects in all of NXT, at the moment.

9 Dakota Kai - Ready

Dakota Kai in WWE NXT

As one of the longer temured members of the current rosters, rumors have circulated about a Dakota Kai call up for sometime, now. In all honesty, NXT no longer really needs Dakota, as a new crop of women have shown that they are ready to assume the mantle. Kai is one of the most consistent performers in all of WWE, whether she is currently affiliated with NXT, or not. With the Women's Royal Rumble, quickly approaching, Dakota is a no-brainer as an entrant for the match. The Time Has Come For Dakota Kai, to join the main roster.

8 Duke Hudson - Not Ready

Duke Hudson Cameron Grimes NXT

While, Duke Hudson held his own in the recent rivalry with Cameron Grimes, he also had a host of shortcomings exposed. His facial expressions, for example, are lacking any sort of distinctive emotion. While his ring work is paasable enough, Hudson has a long way to go until he is ready for the main roster. It doesn't help, that his gimmick is noticeably derivative of resident NXT color man, Wade Barrett. Duke Hudson is going to need some more seasoning, before heading up to the main show.

7 Pete Dunne - Ready

"The Bruiserweight" Pete Dunn in an NXT ring

Seriously, when the smoke had cleared from the Wednesday Night Wars, who would have thought that Pete Dunne would be one of the few NXT "OGs" left standing? In some ways, it's quite surprising that Dunne HASN'T been called up yet. With the news that he was involved in a dark match, before a recent taping of Smackdown, it could be just a matter of time, until we see Dunne on Raw or smackdown. Pete Dunne is a journeymen wrestler, who has enough experience to start on the main roster, tomorrow. Therefore, his call up is long overdue.

6 Elektra Lopez - Not Ready

eletrka-lopez-move

Elektra Lopez is someone who sort of showed up out of nowhere on NXT. While, she has shown some upside, her range as a performer has proven to be somewhat limited, thus far.

Her ongoing saga with Santos Escobar and Xion Quinn, has had some compelling moments, but not exactly must see TV. At the moment, Lopez is aligned with Legado Del Phantasma. It remians to be seen, where she goes from here, but Lopez is simply not ready for the Main Roster, just yet.

5 L.A. Knight - Ready

la-knight-mic

You could argue that L.A. Knight should have skipped past NXT, and gone straight to the Main Roster, a la, AJ Styles. His charisma is simply unmatched by anyone in NXT, and his promo skills are second to none. Knight has been part of some great television in NXT, most notably, his angle with Cameron Grimes and Ted Dibiase. The main roster, in particular, Smackdown, could desperately use a talent such as L.A. Knight. Let's hope we see Knight on either FOX or USA, in the near future.

4 Tony D'Angelo - Not Ready

Tony D'Angelo comes off as an example of creative bankruptcy on the part of NXT. His gimmick is painfully stereotypical, and it's somewhat surprising that the company hasn't been called out for it, yet. As a performer, D'Angelo has done as much as he can, with the little he's been given, which is a testament to him. In his case, it's simply a matter of his character that has little to no chance of succeeding, outside of NXT. D'Angelo has been riding the wave of his WarGames victory, up to this point. However, he's going to need to experience a complete personality overhaul, before being called up.

3 Io Shirai - Ready

Already considered one of the greatest NXT Women's Champions of all time, Io Shirai is essentially just biding her time, until being called up. It's an admittedly tentative situation as it relates to Shirai's impending move to the Main Roster, as Japanese Stars haven't always been booked with a great deal of consistency. There's no question that Io is one of the best athletes in the entire sport. Once again, when looking at the somewhat thin Women's rosters on Raw and Smakcdown, it's puzzling why someone the likes of Shirai, has yet to be called up. Like with her NXT cohort, Dakota Kai, look for a possible Royal Rumble appearance from Io, this year.

2 Von Wagner - Not Ready

Von-Wagner Cropped

While, Von Wagner has had his moments, most notably a tag title match with recently departed to AEW, Kyle O'Reilly, he has been largely inconsistent. His promo work has been nothing short of abysmal, and he has yet to make a significant connection with the audience.

Wagner certainly has the size and pedigree that WWE prefers, and management does seem to favor him. At one point, Wagner appeared as Adam Pearce's bodyguard on Smackdown, but was quickly sent back down to NXT. Von is going to have to find himself, before he moves on to the main roster.

1 Tomasso Ciampa - Ready

At one point, Tomasso Ciampa went on record as saying, that he preferred to never leave NXT for the Main Roster. While most of us can't blame him for not wanting to subject himself to the potential purgatory of Raw or Smackdown, there really is nothing left for Tomasso to achieve in NXT. After recently doing the honors to Bron Breakker, there really aren't any big money matches left for Ciampa in NXT. As sad as it to see the heart of NXT, potentially abscond to uncertain shores, the moment has come. It's time to see Tomasso Ciampa pursue a new version of "goldie."
