No wrestler wants to be a one-hit-wonder, as that often means they didn't make a true long-lasting impact. However, if these talents can have a significant role in their moment in the sun, then they can end up being memorable throughout the years.

Certain WWE one-hit-wonders are victims of circumstance. With booking or situations stopping them from developing, and many of them have a lot of major ability, and they could have kicked on to achieve a lot more within the business. However, others were right to be pushed briefly and forgotten about, mainly because they didn't have the potential overall.

10 Had Potential: Alex Riley

Alex Riley making his entrance

Alex Riley had a brief moment of being pushed due to his partnership with The Miz. He was a stooge bodyguard, and then he became a babyface that was put against him. This showed the quality that he had as fans got behind him at the time.

However, WWE didn't capitalize on that due to backstage politics. Riley was punished for situations outside of the ring, but there's no doubt he did have potential. He could have been a bigger name in the industry overall if that had not taken place.

9 Didn't Have Potential: The Boogeyman

The Boogeyman

The Boogeyman was a clever gimmick as it hid the flaws of the wrestler while entertaining the wrestling fans. This is what allowed the character to get over for a brief period, with WWE often pushing supernatural talents such as this.

However, this was only going to be a short-term push because the actual in-ring ability of The Boogeyman wasn't that great. There was only so far that this character could have gone, with the potential being extremely limited here.

8 Had Potential: Kharma

kharma posing on SmackDown

Anybody who has seen Kharma outside of WWE will be well aware that she's one of the best wrestlers of all time. Her work in TNA highlighted that massively, but due to issues outside of the ring, she only ended up being a one-hit-wonder within WWE.

However, she did have major potential as a professional wrestler within the company. WWE pushed her heavily at first with a lot of vignettes. It was clear that Kharma was going to enjoy a great run within the company had circumstances been different.

7 Didn't Have Potential: Nailz

Nailz in WWE

Nailz is a talent that could have enjoyed a big push within WWE at one point. He was someone that Vince McMahon did like, but due to a legitimate fallout between the two of them, that didn't end up happening.

This is likely a good thing overall. Inside of the ring, Nailz was a basic worker and his gimmick was extremely restricting. There wasn't much potential there in the long-term for him to become a major star, which is why his short push was probably for the best.

6 Had Potential: Bart Gunn

Bart Gunn

Bart Gunn got a major moment in the spotlight due to the Brawl For All tournament which was all about shoot fighting. It wasn't something WWE wanted him to win, but because it was legitimate, Bart was able to pull out a surprise.

He was a good in-ring talent overall, and he showed quality with his hard-hitting style. However, because he ended up spoiling WWE's plans, the company decided to punish him, and that stopped Bart from truly kicking on to the level he could have ended up at.

5 Didn't Have Potential: Giant Gonzalez

Giant Gonzalez

Giant Gonzalez was pushed simply down to his height and look. This is something that has happened plenty of times over the years as Vince McMahon enjoys having a monster heel. However, Gonzalez was limited inside of the ring.

There was only so much that he could do, and his matches were not enjoyable. Gonzalez was memorable due to the bodysuit that he wore and the fact he faced The Undertaker at WrestleMania. However, his potential was non-existent.

4 Had Potential: Maven

Maven with his hands on his head

Maven was around in WWE for a while, but his big push was a short one. This took place when he took out The Undertaker from the Royal Rumble. Even though WWE didn't stick with him in the long term, Maven did have some potential.

Inside of the ring, Maven could move well and he was developing nicely. He did have some potential to kick on and become a bigger name, potentially in the mid-card, but that wasn't in the plans for him by WWE.

3 Didn't Have Potential: James Ellsworth

James Ellsworth

James Ellsworth was pushed heavily simply down to his physical appearance. This got him over when he was just a jobber, and that allowed Ellsworth to enjoy a run with the company. However, the reality of the situation was the fact that inside the ring, he was extremely basic.

Ellsworth was never going to be somebody that could be kept around for the long term. There was only so much WWE could do with him at the time, which is why he didn't have much potential overall as a talent.

2 Had Potential: Muhammad Hassan

Muhammad Hassan

Muhammad Hassan ended up being a one-hit-wonder due to the gimmick that he had, which had to be axed due to circumstances in real life. This was a shame because inside of the ring, Muhammad was a good in-ring wrestler who showed potential.

He could have been a great heel or babyface had WWE just decided to tweak his gimmick slightly, rather than releasing him completely. He was a victim of the situation, but he did have the potential and ability to go much further.

1 Didn't Have Potential: Nathan Jones

Nathan Jones at WrestleMania

Nathan Jones was pushed heavily when he debuted in WWE, which was done due to his physique and the look that he had. It ticked the box that Vince McMahon liked, but he ultimately left the company due to the travel, which he didn't enjoy.

However, Jones did not have much potential when it comes to his in-ring ability. Had he stuck around for the long-term, it is unlikely that he would have gone on to become a big name because he wasn't a good wrestler.
