Since returning at the end of SummerSlam 2020, Roman Reigns has been pushed as the top star in WWE.

So far, so good. Reigns is closing in on Brock Lesnar's record 503-day reign as the Universal Champion. Furthermore, The Tribal Chief hasn't lost cleanly since his return at SummerSlam. Reigns' last pinfall loss took place almost two full years ago, when he lost to Baron Corbin at TLC 2019.

Reigns' historic and event-filled run as WWE's franchise star isn't about to end any time soon. And when all is said and done, Reigns just might end up establishing himself as the best to ever do it. At least, that's reportedly WWE's long-term plan.

According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, the plan "is to push Reigns as the greatest of all-time."

Following his victory over Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel, Reigns opened Friday Night SmackDown and declared himself "the best of the best" and "the greatest Universal Champion of all time". He certainly won't drop the title before the Royal Rumble, and it's only a matter of time until Reigns break Lesnar's aforementioned record Universal title reign.

The Head Of The Table Roman Reigns

WWE is reportedly planning to have Reigns and Lesnar face off for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 38, which will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on the Apr. 2-3 weekend. Lesnar, who was suspended in storyline by Adam Pearce on SmackDown, reportedly isn't slated to wrestle again until the Royal Rumble 2022 pay-per-view on Jan. 29.

Long Way To Go In Making Reigns The GOAT

The heel version of Roman Reigns is better than his previous main event run as a babyface. He's on a historic run and already in line to assert himself as one of the all-time greats, if he isn't already. But there's still plenty of work to do here, and. it's far too early to put Reigns on the same level as previous WWE franchise stars like John Cena, The Rock and Steve Austin.
