Vince McMahon loves competition, in every facet of his life. The boss of WWE is wired differently, and he is unlike any other person walking this earth.

Over the years, we have come across a ton of evidence that paints Vince as one of the most eccentric personalities around, and the genetic jackhammer, even in his seventies, is the gift that keeps on giving.

The guy hates sneezing. His favorite instant snack involves Oreos and easy cheese. His driving skills are amazing but uniquely terrifying, and he has a habit of getting into scuffles with his own workers.

Vince McMahon Is As Competitive As His Wrestlers

One of the more frequently told McMahon incidents was his wrestling match against Kurt Angle, a literal gold medalist in Olympic wrestling, and the stage was the airplane 45,000 feet up in the air. McMahon and Angle wrestled for hours, and in the end, the Olympic Hero garnered the respect of his boss. The wrestling match is easily one of the most infamous stories, and years later, Vince McMahon produced a second edition. This time, the co-star was Kofi Kingston.

Apparently, Vince McMahon likes to wrestle his employees when he is flying. This particular incident did not actually take place inside a plane, but at the airport, just minutes after the plane had landed. The year was 2010 and WrestleMania 26 was around the corner.

Vince McMahon and Kofi Kingston Fight Inside An Airport

Vince McMahon was on the plane with several WWE superstars such as John Cena, Chris Jericho, and Kofi Kingston. According to Jericho, all of them were drunk out of their minds. The plane landed, but they stayed around to finish their drinks, and out of nowhere, Vince McMahon threw a jab at Kingston. Verbal, of course.

The chairman said something like, “Maybe you'll get over one of these days.” and then moved on. Initially, Kingston said nothing but Chris Jericho, ever the instigator, caught up to the young superstar and explained to him that McMahon preferred people who stood up for themselves. This led to Kingston stepping up to his own boss.

Kingston approached McMahon and questioned whether the boss had a problem with him. McMahon responded that he may actually have an issue with Kingston and then asked what he was going to do about it.

The two went back and forth until McMahon dove for a double-leg, and the two wrestled around for a couple of minutes before McMahon disengaged and then walked away laughing. Typical Vince.

This story was first narrated by Jericho in his own book and unfortunately, this version lacked the finer details as Jericho could only recall the scuffle in basic detail. By his own admission, Jericho was drunk beyond belief but years later, during a radio interview, Kingston himself confirmed the details of his scuffle with McMahon and elaborated further upon what and who actually went down.

Kofi Kingston Explains What Really Happened

According to Kingston, after the little remark about him getting over, McMahon proceeded to rile him up a little more as they were getting off the plane. McMahon wondered if Kingston was going to fight an old man, setting up the inevitable brawl. He also mentioned that Jericho shared some words of wisdom and that led to Kingston squaring up against his boss.

Kingston said that he actually got an over hook on Vince McMahon, and that he was looking to free his legs and get a sprawl to establish a more favorable position, but all that came to end as McMahon started laughing and Kingston backed off. The little game had come to an end.

Who Will Vince McMahon Fight Next?

According to Kingston, the laugh was hysterical and that meant McMahon actually enjoyed himself. Do note, that at that time, Vince was 63 years old while Kofi was 28.

Kingston mentioned that he could not tell whether their relationship shifted after this, as was the case with Kurt Angle, but he said that McMahon and himself enjoyed a very good relationship over the years, regardless of what happened in the airport. Jericho himself mentioned that he was unsure whether Kingston gained the respect of the boss, but he sure did earn the respect of Y2J himself.

This might well be a running gag for the chairman of WWE, as something about a plane and a wrestling match seems to get him going. Don’t be surprised if we get a part three to the saga of Vince McMahon wrestling his employees on the airplane. The guy must get really bored during flights.
