Lacey Evans is getting a makeover. And, while WWE fans are likely used to showing respect for those who served their country -- in this case, Evans served in the Marines -- she looks to be coming back as a heel.

What will likely be a series of vignettes started airing this Friday on SmackDown. Footage of Evans working out with the United States Department of Defense -- meant to look like a "back to basics" workout and there was a narrator walking fans through why. The voice said that Evans was part of an elite club and trained by the most "powerful force in the world" but somehow found herself lowering herself to the same level as normal people. She found herself "lost in the crowd with the whiners and the weak". They noted that something had to change.

It's not clear if the idea is to make Evans a heel, but it feels like WWE is directing her in much the same way they did when Kurt Angle first came into WWE and called himself an Olympic hero. He said he was a special and "real" athlete. The fans absolutely hated him. WWE has to know by saying the Evans was hanging out with the whiners and the weak, the WWE Universe will reject her.

Make Her A Hate Heel

This is smart by WWE. If she returns and is a villain, this is where Evans is most comfortable. She was a good heel when she had the Southern Belle gimmick and while this is a much different version of her personality, it could work. In fact, it could be much better since this is her background and she probably believes that the fans should respect her for what she did serving her country.

There are no reports on when she will actually return to the ring.
