WWE has confirmed that the scheduled SummerSlam match between Riddle and Seth "Freakin" Rollins has been delayed due to the (kayfabe) injury Riddle sustained following the brutal beat down he took from Rollins on this Monday's edition of Raw. In case you missed it, Rollins ambushed Riddle following the main event of Raw, during which The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) defeated Riddle and The Street Profits (Montez ford & Angelo Dawkins). After the bell, Rollins made his way down the ramp and exchanged a glance with his former SHIELD brother Roman Reigns, before proceeding to the ring where he rubbed salt in Riddle's wounds ... and created a few more in the process.

News of both Riddle's injury and the match postponement was first announced on the latest episode of The Bump. According to the announcement, Riddle sulfured a brachial plexus injury (also known as a stinger) and will be out of action until he regains his strength.

Rollins took to social media to address the delay shortly after the announcement was made.

"For anyone who purchased a ticket to [SummerSlam] hoping to see me in action, I apologize," Rollins tweeted on July 27. "I did everything I could over the last 6 months to earn my spot on this show, but some things are out of my control. Thank you for always singing my song. They’ll hear ya someday."

The first post-SummerSlam WWE premium live event is Clash At The Castle, which takes place in Cardiff, Wales on September 3. According to a recent Fightful Select report, WWE intends to move Riddle/Rollins to that card.

SummerSlam 2022 goes down this Saturday (August 30) in Nashville, Tennessee.
