This was the first match from the first event to have ever taken place on the WWE Network. WWE was hoping that they would deliver a classic to entertain the fans, and that is exactly what they did. The two men just went back and forth, putting on a clinic for the audience.

They got over 20 minutes, which was always going to be enough time for them to steal the show. It was competitive, engaging, and hard-fought. They put together some great near falls, and the fans bought into everything which was fantastic to see.

9 Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens (Battleground, 2016) - 9.30

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a long, storied history together as friends and rivals. That is why WWE wasted no time in booking them together. They have had a lot of matches during their time together, but this Battleground encounter was one of the strongest.

It was wrestled almost like an independent match in terms of style and pace. They held nothing back within this one, which was competitive and filled with genuine fire. It put over the issues between them, saw some impressive moves take place, and left fans wanting more all at the same time.

8 El Generico vs. Claudio Castagnoli (PWG Kurt Russellreunion 2: The Reunioning, 2011) - 9.31

While their NXT match was a great one, this encounter was just a touch stronger overall. That was mainly down to the fact it took place on the indies, where wrestlers have a little bit more freedom inside the ring. That was the case here, with the two men having a brilliant match.

It was truly fast-paced and didn't slow down at any point. The frantic energy kept people engaged, and their work rate was brilliant to see. With plenty of strikes thrown in, this was one that audiences could easily buy into.

7 El Generico & Paul London vs. The Cutler Brothers vs. The Young Bucks (PWG Seven, 2010) - 9.32

The partnership between El Generico and Paul London was a great one that led to some great matches, and this was one of those. It was a classic independent tag team match, with tons of big moves taking place regularly as nobody held anything back.

This was very much in line with the style that The Young Bucks worked at that time. It wasn't so much about psychology here, but more about amazing moves, but the fans went crazy for all of it, which was enjoyable to see.

6 El Generico vs. Kevin Steen (PWG Steen Wolf, 2010) - 9.33

PWG was one of the places where El Generico and Kevin Steen were able to make a name for themselves with their brilliant in-ring work. This was a ladder match, and it saw some creative spots take place, with Generico always looking to create something different for this stipulation.

They hit each other with some massive moves that all looked dangerous, and that helped to sell the impact of everything that was taking place. The psychology was superb, and it led to an encounter few would forget.

5 El Generico & Kevin Steen vs. The Briscoes (ROH Man Up, 2007) - 9.37

This one was a ladder war, and because of that, they were able to add in plenty of bumps and creative spots to make this a memorable one. Kevin Steen and El Generico always worked well together, because they would come up with great ideas for their matches.

The Briscoes are one of the best teams ever, and putting them together in this stipulation was an awesome choice. They brawled wildly, and put each other through the ladders, including a package piledriver through a ladder bridge at one stage.

4 Sami Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (NXT Takeover: Dallas) - 9.44

This encounter was Shinsuke Nakamura's debut, and it ended up being an amazing one. The atmosphere alone helped to make this feel special, but then inside the ring, they put on a brilliant bout. It was a truly hard-hitting match that felt very much in line with Nakamura's New Japan style.

It was very competitive, and they held nothing back to introduce Shinsuke in the best way possible. From brilliant exchanges to excellent wrestling, this blew all expectations away, and left people wanting more.

3 El Generico vs. Kevin Steen (ROH Final Battle, 2010) - 9.45

Out of all the battles El Generico and Kevin Steen had together, with this being a career vs. mask match. Rather than just being a spot fest, this one was loaded with psychology. They called back to their previous encounters and issues that they had in the past.

Of course, they utilized the situation at hand by putting in lots of violence, but the wrestling itself was also fantastic. They brought the crowd in on the journey, and they bought into everything that happened, creating an iconic ROH match.

2 El Generico & Kevin Steen vs. The Briscoes (ROH Death Before Dishonor V, 2007) - 9.45

This was another tag team match against The Briscoes, and another tremendous bout between the four men. This one was a street fight, but it was thrown together randomly on the show. That's because the two teams had singles matches earlier on in the night.

Seeing those matches was important to make this one work as well. They all added to each other, culminating in one fantastic encounter that left fans truly entertained.

Sami Zayn's highest-rated match was from his time in NXT, with this being the moment he finally captured the NXT Title. They put together a superb match that was loaded with amazing wrestling, and even better psychology and storytelling.

The audience was desperate for Sami to win the big one, and he poured his heart into this, which is what made it such a special match. Of course, inside the ring they delivered an unbelievable match that truly had it all, from great strikes to high-flying offense, it was one for the ages.
