10 Disrespecting Jim Neidhart
Using the death of a wrestler in a storyline is something that many fans consider to be weird, even if they have the blessing of family members. That was certainly the case when Sasha Banks feuded with Natalya following the passing of her father, Jim Neidhart, as WWE wouldn't have done this storyline without Nattie agreeing.
However, hearing Banks tell Natalya to go to hell and say hi to her father was a weird level to reach in the bid of finding heel heat. A lot of people didn't appreciate it, and this was certainly a strange storyline for her at that time.
9 Fake Retirement
Wrestlers giving retirement speeches are always a big deal, and something that fans take extremely seriously because people's careers are coming to an end at that moment. However, there have been times when wrestlers have faked them to get a surprising reaction, and that's what Sasha Banks did in 2015.
It was a weird moment because most fans didn't enjoy the bait and switch, and the fact it was to only attack Dana Brooke made the situation feel rather pointless overall.
8 Teaming With Rich Swann
Intergender storylines are not something that WWE does a lot of, simply because the company tends to push away from that style of wrestling. However, in 2017 Sasha Banks entered into one of those angles when she found herself feuding against Alicia Fox and Noam Dar.
It was an angle that attempted to promote WWE's cruiserweight division at the same time as helping the women, and that led to her teaming with Rich Swann at Extreme Rules in 2017. It was a weird moment for Banks, as the story was a major left turn from what she normally does, and is something many have forgotten about.
7 Shooting On Alexa Bliss
Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks have always done a great job of making it seem like they have legitimate heat with each other, and that could very much be the case. Fans truly got a sense of that during a rather intense and weird moment on Raw Talk in 2017 when Banks unloaded on her.
She made out that Bliss had been lying about being a wrestling fan, claiming she didn't know the difference between Matt and Jeff Hardy. It was something that seemed to blur the lines between reality and kayfabe, which is always weird to see.
6 Working With Enzo Amore
Sometimes wrestlers are just thrown alongside each other for tag team matches because the people on the other side are their rivals. That was the case when Sasha Banks teamed up with Enzo Amore on an episode of Raw in 2016 to take on Charlotte and Chris Jericho.
It was a weirdly random moment, with Amore not quite being on the same level as everyone else in the ring when it comes to in-ring qualities, even though he was very over at this stage in his career.
5 Rushed Ronda Rousey Feud
A storyline between Ronda Rousey and Sasha Banks seems like one that should have been a huge deal for WWE, potentially being good enough to headline a premium live event due to the star power on offer. Yet these two women have only ended up having one singles match to date.
This was a throwaway one at that, because it took place at the 2019 Royal Rumble, and it was clear Rousey wouldn't be losing. It was weird to see Banks placed in this role, simply because people knew she could offer a lot more.
4 Feuding With Reginald
When Sasha Banks was the SmackDown Women's Champion in the pandemic era, her first big storyline was against Carmella. However, the focus was mainly on Reginald, who was by her side, and fans didn't enjoy it as he was constantly involved to the point it became annoying.
That wasn't the end though, as he then transitioned into a storyline working with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, and because Banks was then feuding with them, this odd angle between them had to continue.
3 Losing Tag Team Gold
Sasha Banks and Bayley winning the Women's Tag Team Titles to become the inaugural holders of the gold was the right call, as they were the top team in the company. Fans wanted to see them go on a run to dominate and build the division, yet they lost them straight away at WrestleMania 35 against The IIconics.
Luckily, they would later get a proper run with the gold, which is why many fans have forgotten this weird decision. However, it was one that reportedly caused backstage drama, and is something that didn't help the titles or Banks and Bayley.
2 WrestleMania Pre-Show
Sasha Banks is one of the biggest stars in WWE's history, and that is being seen right now as she thrives outside of the business, therefore most fans would presume that the company would book her in featured matches at all times, especially for the biggest shows of the year.
However, at WrestleMania 34 that was not the case, with Banks finding herself on the pre-show in the battle royal. Despite the fact she and Bayley were feuding at the time, the two of them were both in this match which ultimately meant nothing, and that was very strange to see.
1 Therapy Sessions
Speaking of the rivalry that WWE was attempting to create between Bayley and Sasha Banks at that time, this was another weird era for her because the company didn't commit to it. The two didn't fully fall out, but they were involved in some dreadful therapy session segments.
These were weird, over the top, and poorly acted. Fans have no doubt tried to put these segments out of their minds, and that is with good reason. WWE was trying to capture the magic of similar segments that Team Hell No had done, but it just wasn't possible.
