Shawn Michaels will go down in history as one of the greatest wrestlers to lace up a pair of boots. Michaels' in-ring skills are exceptional and he is an entertainer with superb mic skills. Michaels has had success as both a babyface and a heel throughout his WWE career. Michaels made history in September 1997 as the first Grand Slam Champion by winning the WWE, Intercontinental, Tag Team, and European Championships.

Michaels clinched his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 12, and 13 years later his final championship run was the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship with his best friend Triple H. It's a big deal when Michaels holds championships as he elevates championships but some title reigns were poor for his high standards.

Shawn Michaels broke British hearts when he defeated The British Bulldog for the WWE European Championship at One Night Only in Birmingham, England. Michaels' victory was significant as he became the first Grand Slam Champion in WWE history.

Despite holding the European Championship for three months, Michaels' European Title reign wasn't good. He hardly defended the title and for one month, he held the title alongside the WWE Championship.

Just 24 hours before Diesel was scheduled to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Razor Ramon at SummerSlam 1994, Diesel and Shawn Michaels defeated the Headshrinkers for the WWE Tag Team Championship. It was the first time that both men held the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Michaels and Diesel did a good job as Tag Team Champions as they had excellent chemistry together. The highlight of their championship run was their title defense against Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid. Their title reign was ended at Survivor Series 1994 when Michaels accidentally nailed Diesel with Sweet Chin Music, and they vacated the titles.

8 Worst: World Heavyweight Championship - 1st Reign (2002)

Shawn Michaels competed in the inaugural Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series 2002. HBK's rival Triple H was the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, and Michaels lastly eliminated him to clinch his fourth and final World Championship.

Unfortunately, Michaels' title run was disappointing. He defended the title against Rob Van Dam on Raw, and he dropped the championship one month later back to Triple H at Armageddon in an underwhelming Three Stages of Hell match.

Shawn Michaels is one of the all-time great Intercontinental Champions. At In Your House: The Lumberjacks, Michaels defeated Jeff Jarrett in an outstanding match to become a three-time Intercontinental Champion. Michaels held the gold for three months this time around.

He got some redemption when he overcame Razor Ramon in a ladder match at SummerSlam 1995 to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Moreover, Michaels became a double champion for the first time in his WWE career when he won the WWE Tag Team Championship for the second time with Diesel. Michaels relinquished the championship after he was beaten up in a nightclub in Syracuse, New York.

Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin teamed up to defeat the Hart Foundation's Owen Hart and The British Bulldog for the WWE Tag Team Championship on the May 26, 1997, taping of Raw. This tag team match was off the charts, and the Texans winning the gold was the start of something special.

Their Tag Team Championship reign failed to catch fire, and the pair were rivals. They had a match at King of the Ring which went to a double disqualification. Ultimately, they were stripped from holding the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Bret Hart dropped the WWE Championship to Shawn Michaels in controversial circumstances at Survivor Series 1997. Michaels captured his third WWE Championship reign all thanks to the Montreal Screwjob. Moreover, this was Michaels' only World Title reign as a heel, and he held the title for 140 days.

Michaels' WWE Championship match with The Undertaker in a casket match at the 1998 Royal Rumble robbed him of four years off his career as his back hit the edge of the casket. He herniated his disc in his back, but somehow he managed to make it to WrestleMania 14, where he dropped the gold to Steve Austin but he was in an insurmountable amount of pain.

A bout of flu could not stop Shawn Michaels from competing in front of his hometown fans in San Antonio, Texas when he challenged Psycho Sid for the WWE Championship at the 1997 Royal Rumble. It wasn't the greatest of performances from Michaels but he regained the WWE Title from Sid.

Michaels was expected to drop the WWE Championship to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 but he infamously lost his smile on Thursday Raw Thursday. Michaels was WWE Champion for 25 days, and he failed to defend the title once with the WWE Title picture plans for WrestleMania 13 in disarray.

Shawn Michaels ended The British Bulldog's Intercontinental Championship reign in the fall of 1992 to hold the prestigious title for the first time. Michaels did a wonderful job as Intercontinental Champion, and he resumed his feud with his former tag team partner Marty Jannetty.

Michaels defeated Jannetty to retain the Intercontinental Championship at the 1993 Royal Rumble. He defended the gold in the curtain-raiser against Tatanka at WrestleMania 9. Ultimately, Michaels' 202-day Intercontinental Championship reign was ended by Jannetty.

There was a unique winner takes all match at In Your House: Triple Header with Shawn Michaels' Intercontinental Championship and Diesel's WWE Championship on the line. They challenged Yokozuna and The British Bulldog who replaced his brother-in-law Owen Hart for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

The Two Dudes of Attitudes won their second WWE Tag Team Championship together. However, their title reign was not long for this world as the titles returned to Hart and Yokozuna on the following episode of Raw, just 24 hours later as Owen was pinned despite not starting the match.

The boyhood dream came true at WrestleMania 12 when Shawn Michaels overcame Bret Hart in an energy-sapping 60-minute Iron Man match to become WWE Champion for the first time in his career. Michaels took the ball and ran with it during his time as WWE Champion for the majority of 1996.

He defeated his former tag team partner Diesel who was heading south to WCW in an exceptional WWE Championship match. The likes of The British Bulldog, Vader, and Mankind were also unable to unseat Michaels as WWE Champion. Nevertheless, Sycho Sid was the man responsible to bring the curtain down on his 231-day WWE Championship run at Survivor Series 1996.
