The height differences between performers in WWE has a drastic range. Giants like Andre the Giant, Big Show and Kane found success as the taller players success stories. WWE witnessed shorter wrestlers also make their mark like Bryan Danielson, Alexa Bliss and Rey Mysterio. Shorter wrestlers have a tougher battle, but that doesn’t mean they won’t overcome the struggles.
WWE has a few wrestlers on the roster who would not be an obvious pick to get hired based on their height. That typically means they thrive in various important areas of the business, like great matches or cutting compelling promos. The following male wrestlers in WWE are the shortest currently on the roster.
10 Chad Gable: 5'7''
The height of Chad Gable has held him back in WWE on a few occasions throughout the years. Gable’s biggest disappointment came when his name was changed to Shorty G for a short while to slow down any momentum.
Baron Corbin mocking his height in promos brought more attention to Gable being 5’7’’ and one of the shorter wrestlers in the company. There are many wrestlers just a couple of inches taller to make Gable look comparable to them.
9 Tyler Bate: 5'7''
The NXT UK brand has witnessed a handful of wrestlers building reputations for being among the best talents in the industry. Tyler Bate joined WWE during the early stages of the brand as the first-ever NXT UK Champion during his feud with Pete Dunne.
The height of 5’7’’ makes Bate one of the shorter male wrestlers in WWE today, but that hasn’t held him back from having great matches. Time will tell if Dunne can overcome the shorter size to break out on the main roster if Vince McMahon is still in charge.
8 Raul Mendoza: 5'7''
Raul Mendoza is quietly one of the longest-tenured wrestlers on the NXT roster. WWE signed Mendoza after he took part in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament back in 2016. The run of Mendoza struggled until he broke out over the past year.
Legado Del Fantasma is the faction that allowed Mendoza to showcase his talent with a consistent NXT role. At just 5’7’’ tall, Mendoza is one of the shorter wrestlers on the show, but it doesn’t work against him since he has partners to take part in group matches or attacks.
7 Joaquin Wilde: 5'7''
Fellow Legado Del Fantasma member Joaquin Wilde is the exact same height as his partner Raul Mendoza on the NXT brand. Wilde had prior success in TNA’s X-Division under the name of DJ Z and Zema Ion to break out.
The height of Wilde is 5’7’’ to have the same build as Mendoza in a way that helps the leader Santos Escobar. Despite being under 6 feet tall, Escobar looks taller by standing above his two sidekicks in a thriving faction.
6 Wes Lee: 5'7''
The NXT tag team of MSK gets a polarizing reaction from fans at live events, but they clearly have a huge upside. Wes Lee is one of the most exciting and athletic wrestlers on the roster. Fans from the indie circuit enjoyed his time as Dezmond Xavier with stints in PWG and Impact Wrestling.
Lee is listed at 5’7’’ tall as one of the shortest talents on the NXT roster. The wrestlers of shorter height usually have a style that makes up for it and Lee perfects that. Few talents have the athletic ability to match what Wes currently delivers in the ring.
5 Brian Kendrick: 5'7''
Many WWE fans forget that 205 Live is still going with a smaller roster of cruiserweight talents. The one original wrestler from the early days to stick around this long is beloved veteran Brian Kendrick. Fans have enjoyed Kendrick’s work from the Ruthless Aggression Era to the later stages of his career.
Kendrick played a huge role in giving hope to many wrestlers of his size when getting signed by WWE the first time. The 5’7’’ height of Kendrick was a bigger deal at the time, but he proved that talent could get smaller wrestlers a shot in WWE.
4 Lince Dorado: 5'7''
The Lucha House Party has seen Lince Dorado on the main roster for quite some time now as part of the team. Dorado may need a new act soon after the release of Kalisto and the request of a release by Gran Metalik.
The height of 5’7’’ makes Dorado one of the shorter talents to get a spot on the main roster. Dorado uses his height to his advantage as a fast-paced and high-flying wrestler. WWE however doesn’t seem likely to push Lince any time soon in tag team or singles action.
3 Akira Tozawa: 5'7''
WWE signing Akira Tozawa was a bigger deal than one would assume today. Tozawa was viewed as a top tier talent from Japan following his success in Dragon Gate, matches with Kevin Owens in PWG, and a strong showing in the Cruiserweight Classic.
The height of 5’7’’ didn’t matter for Tozawa since WWE knew cruiserweights would be smaller when crafting that division. Tozawa unfortunately looks like a shell of his former self as a secondary comedic act in the 24/7 Championship segments.
2 Rey Mysterio: 5'6''
The height of Rey Mysterio has seen him listed among the shortest active wrestlers for about three decades now. Mysterio’s height of 5’6’’ made many talents and fans laugh at the idea of him finding success when joining the business.
The incredible in-ring skills and heart of Rey’s character led to him proving every single doubter wrong as an all-time great. WWE witnessed Mysterio becoming an all-time great and still delivering impressive work this late into his career as part of the main roster.
1 Drake Maverick: 5'4''
WWE signing former TNA star Rockstar Spud under the name of Drake Maverick was a bit surprising due to his height. There are many shorter talents than prior eras on the roster today, but Maverick was the shortest male star at 5’4’’ tall.
Maverick has used that as part of his character since it would be foolish to pretend his height wasn’t noticeable. WWE witnessed Drake delivering in every role given to him from managing Authors of Pain to becoming the General Manager of 205 Live to the comedic segments with R-Truth for the 24/7 Championship and everything in between.
