In the summer of 2016, WWE reintroduced the brand split. The WWE Tag Team Championship's lineage continued, and it changed into the Raw Tag Team Championship. However, Raw's counterparts SmackDown needed a tag team championship for their tag teams to battle over. Surprisingly, only two teams have won the titles at least twice.

SmackDown's had some superb tag teams over the years as demonstrated with the original brand split. As with every championship that WWE has produced, some memorable champions and other champions had disappointing reigns. The SmackDown Tag Team Championship is currently unified with the Raw Tag Team Championship as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. 16 teams have managed to get their hands on the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with some title reigns better than others.

16 The Miz & Shane McMahon

The Miz and Shane McMahon formed a makeshift tag team and defeated the Bar for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at the 2019 Royal Rumble. This partnership did neither man any favors' and it was obvious that they were going to break up and feud heading into WrestleMania 35 season.

Miz and Shane only defended the titles once, and they dropped the titles to The Usos at Elimination Chamber 2019. Their three-week title reign is one of the shortest reigns in the history of the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

15 The Hardys

On the first episode of SmackDown after WrestleMania 35, the Hardys defeated the Usos to become SmackDown Tag Team Champions. With the victory, the Hardys became the first tag team to win the SmackDown, Raw, WWE, and WCW Tag Team Championships which is a magnificent achievement.

Unfortunately, their title reign was over before it even started. Jeff Hardy sustained a knee injury, and they were forced to relinquish the titles just three weeks later without a single title defense.

14 The Wyatt Family

Randy Orton joined the Wyatt Family alongside Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. This trio quickly captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship from Heath Slater and Rhyno at TLC 2016. Under the Freebird rule, two of the trio could defend the titles.

This was Wyatt's first championship reign on the main roster. Nonetheless, this SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign was underwhelming with American Alpha taking the titles away from the Wyatt Family on an episode of SmackDown, three weeks later.

13 The Revival

The Revival had the potential to become one of the all-time great tag teams in WWE. The duo made history at Clash of Champions 2019 when they defeated the New Day's Big E and Xavier Woods for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

With the victory, they became the first team to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, Raw Tag Team Championship, and the NXT Tag Team Championship. The Revival only defended the gold once during their 54-day title reign, and they dropped the titles back to the New Day in Manchester, England.

12 Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro

For the majority of 2020, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro were on the same page as they were part of the Artist Collective alongside Sami Zayn. The COVID-19 pandemic broke, and whilst Zayn stayed at home, Nakamura and Cesaro feuded with the New Day. At The Horror Show at Extreme Rules 2020, Nakamura and Cesaro captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Two talented wrestlers in Nakamura and Cesaro could've taken the tag team division by storm. Their 82-day run with the straps, saw them defeat the likes of the Lucha House Party a couple of times. Ultimately, the New Day's Kofi Kingston and Big E brought the curtain down on their SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign.

11 Heath Slater & Rhyno

Surprisingly, Heath Slater and Rhyno defeated The Usos in a tournament final at Backlash 2016 to become the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Champions. This makeshift team worked well, and Rhyno was enjoying a career renaissance alongside Slater.

Despite holding the titles for 84 days, their run as champions was average. The likes of the Ascension, The Usos, and the Spirit Squad failed to beat them for the titles. The Wyatt Family's Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt dethroned them at TLC 2016.

10 Daniel Bryan & Rowan

After dropping the WWE Championship to Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35, Daniel Bryan moved into the tag team division with Rowan. The duo defeated The Usos for the vacant SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the May 7, 2019, episode of SmackDown.

Bryan and Rowan defended the titles just twice, and they retained them against Heavy Machinery at Stomping Grounds 2019. However, the New Day ended their run in a triple threat SmackDown Tag Team Championship match with Heavy Machinery ending their reign at just 68 days.

9 The Dirty Dawgs

Two veterans in Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode rekindled their partnership, and they called themselves the Dirty Dawgs. They got 2021 off to a positive start as they beat the Street Profits for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

To sum up their title reign, they didn't defend the titles for three months. The Dirty Dawgs failed to make it onto WrestleMania 37, and their 128-day run as champions was underwhelming with the Mysterios bringing the curtain down on their title run.

8 American Alpha

American Alpha was successful in NXT, and they found more success once they became members of SmackDown. Jason Jordan and Chad Gable are talented in-ring performers, and they captivated audiences with their style of wrestling.

Their run with the SmackDown Tag Team Championship lasted a respectable 83 days and the highlight of their reign was a successful title defense in Tag Team Turmoil at Elimination Chamber 2017. A month after that, The Usos captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship from them.

7 The Street Profits

The Street Profits were drafted to SmackDown as the Raw Tag Team Champions. Instead of the Street Profits dropping the titles, they traded the gold with the New Day who were the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The Street Profits did a magnificent job as Raw Tag Team Champions, but the same couldn't be said with their run as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Their reign was uninspiring as the Street Profits only defended the titles against the Dirty Dawgs. The third time was a charm for the Dirty Dawgs as they ended the Street Profits' title reign in January 2021.

6 The Miz & John Morrison

John Morrison returned to WWE after a nine-year absence, and he was once again teaming up with The Miz. At Super ShowDown 2020, Miz and Morrison defeated the New Day to kickstart their first reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Their reign wasn't vintage by any stretch but Miz and Morrison work superbly well together. They retained the titles inside Elimination Chamber, and Morrison retained the titles on his lonesome at WrestleMania 36 in a triple threat ladder match. Ultimately, their 50-day run as SmackDown Tag Team Champions was ended by Big E with Miz defending the titles in a triple threat match with Jey Uso involved.

5 The Bar

With a helping hand from Big Show, The Bar's Sheamus and Cesaro captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the 1,000th episode of SmackDown. The Bar were former four-time Raw Tag Team Champions, and they worked as a cohesive unit during their run as champions.

They competed in some excellent matches against The New Day and The Usos, and they managed to defend the titles successfully twice. Their 102-day reign was halted by The Miz and Shane McMahon at the 2019 Royal Rumble.

4 The Mysterios

The Mysterios SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cropped

History was made at WrestleMania Backlash 2021 when Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik became the first father-son duo to win a tag team championship in WWE. The Mysterios defeated The Dirty Dawgs, and it's the shame that it didn't happen at WrestleMania 37 in front of a live crowd.

Nevertheless, The Mysterios were defending champions for 63 days, and their feud with The Usos was brilliant. All good things must come to an end, and it was The Usos who dethroned the Mysterios.

3 The Bludgeon Brothers

Big men generally work well together, and that was the case for Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. The former Wyatt Family members captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 34. They were a dominant duo, and they held the titles for 135 days.

The Bludgeon Brothers overcame the likes of The Usos, The Club, and Team Hell No. Ultimately, the New Day got the better of them on the August 21, 2018 edition of SmackDown in one heck of a No Disqualification match.

2 The New Day

The New Day SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cropped

No team in WWE history has held Tag Team Championship gold longer than the New Day. Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods' feud with the Usos over the SmackDown Tag Team Championships was legendary. Both teams made the championship feel relevant.

The New Day are record seven-time SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Although, the New Day's seventh reign was without Big E. Nonetheless, it's special every time New Day holds a championship as they are one of the all-time great Tag Team Champions.

1 The Usos

The Usos Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions 3rd Reign Cropped

Unquestionably, The Usos are the greatest SmackDown Tag Team Champions in WWE history. They've clinched the titles five times, and they are currently 338+ days and counting in their fifth reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

The Usos deserve a lot of credit as they've reinvented themselves, and their feuds with the New Day and the Street Profits have taken them to another level. The Usos made more history as they added the Raw Tag Team Championship to go along with their blue straps, and they are currently the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. No team has held the SmackDown Tag Team Championship longer than The Usos, who have clocked up 717+ days throughout their five runs with the titles.
