The Bar was a successful WWE tag team comprised of Sheamus and Cesaro. Two great singles wrestlers started teaming up and became one of the best tag teams of the past decade. It's been a few years since The Bar disbanded, but fans haven't forgotten about these two wrestlers.

Sheamus is arguably doing his best work in the ring, and Cesaro, now working for All Elite Wrestling as Claudio Castagnoli, is also finding success in this new chapter of his career. From how The Bar first began, to its end, and everything in between, there are a lot of things to know about this tag team.

10 Cesaro Rekindled Sheamus' Love For Wrestling

Sheamus was recently interviewed by Inside the Ropes, where he revealed that tagging with Cesaro in The Bar helped rekindle his passion for pro wrestling.

A few months before creating The Bar with Cesaro, Sheamus had a failed World Heavyweight Title reign. He also led a stable called the League of Nations, which was another failure. After this, Sheamus became an afterthought in WWE, and his time as The Bar was one of the most exciting versions of The Celtic Warrior.

9 They Were Forced To Team Up

Shortly after the 2016 WWE Draft, Sheamus and Cesaro began a rivalry. Both stars were interfering in each other's matches, so Raw General Manager Mick Foley announced a "Best of 7" series between the two, which started with Summerslam. The series ended in a draw.

The winner was supposed to receive a title opportunity, and since there wasn't one, Foley gave both of them a shot at the Raw Tag Team Championships and turned them into a tag team.

8 Concussion Led To Their Split

On the April 9, 2019, edition of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre and The Bar teamed up against The New Day. During this match, Sheamus suffered a concussion which kept him away from the ring for over a year. He thought his career was over, but physical therapy worked and he came back better than before.

After Sheamus disappeared from WWE television, Cesaro was left alone. He went to SmackDown and aligned himself with Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn.

7 Weren't Friends Before Tagging

Sheamus and Cesaro had a lot of respect for each other before they started teaming up. They weren't friends though. It wasn't until after Mick Foley forced them to start tagging that Sheamus and Cesaro became close friends in real life. They were together basically all the time and kept growing closer. Both wrestlers are in different promotions now, but they still stay in touch.

6 How They Came Up With Their Catchphrase

The Bar used to have "We don't just set the bar, we are the bar!" as their catchphrase. On an episode of E&C's Pod of Awesomeness, Cesaro talked about how he and Sheamus came up with their catchphrase. He said that during a VIP meet and greet event in Germany since they didn't have a trademark pose or anything, they would just do a thumbs up and take a picture. Sheamus then explained to Cesaro how "Trump may have ruined the thumbs up" so they started putting their thumb in the middle instead.

This pose looked "mediocre" to them, and they wanted to be better than this. And upon trying a few different things, they came up with their catchphrase.

An embarrassing moment in both Sheamus and Cesaro's careers came at WrestleMania 34 when Braun Strowman and a then 10-year-old Nicolas (son of WWE referee John Cone) defeated them for the belts.

Though they wouldn't remain Raw Tag Team Champions for long, as the next night on Raw, they relinquished the title belt due to Nicolas's schooling schedule.

The fallout from WrestleMania 35 saw WWE Champion Kofi Kingston challenging Universal Champion Seth Rollins in a Winner Takes All match. Their match happens, but it ends in disqualification when The Bar interrupts. The fans were very disappointed and booed everyone involved. A tag team match was set up between Kingston and Rollins and The Bar, which the World Champion duo won.

The Bar captured the Raw Tag Team Titles three more times in their career.

1 Their Longest Reign Was 103 Days Long

The Bar did win many titles in WWE, but most of their reigns were short. Their first Raw Tag Team Title reign only lasted for 42 days before they lost the belt to Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

Sheamus and Cesaro won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship as their final title in WWE. This reign lasted a little over 3 months, and it was their longest reign as a team. They ended up losing the belt to the makeshift team of Shane McMahon and The Miz at Royal Rumble 2019.
