The era of Monday Night Wars was definitely the greatest phase in professional wrestling. This was the time when WCW emerged as a credible challenger against WWE and even dethroned Vince McMahon's company in ratings for 83 weeks straight. The Monday Night Wars began in 1995, just when WCW Nitro began as a weekly program and started receiving mainstream attention. It ended after WWE bought WCW in 2001.

10 Val Venis

Val Venis was a character that showed how edgy and different WWE was back in the Attitude Era, He was an adult movie star who had a lavishing lifestyle. Even real-life adult star, Jenna Jameson, was featured with Val Venis.

Weighing nearly 250 pounds, Val Venis was a big guy with good muscle mass. He also had long hair. But Val Venis, whose real name is Sean Morley, is currently 50 years old now. With a gray beard and shaved head, he is now completely unrecognizable from the Val Venis character.

9 Razor Ramon/ Scott Hall

During the Monday Night Wars, Scott Hall was a colossal name in WWE as well as WCW. First, he rose to stardom as the charismatic Razor Ramon. When he jumped ship to WCW, he found even more success as a member of the nWo.

In his prime, Scott Hall was 6-foot-7 and weighed nearly 300 pounds. Hall was already battling with substance use problems in his heyday, which was shown in a storyline in WCW. Later, he faced various health issues like double pneumonia and heart problems. Now, at the age of 63, he looks relatively small with gray hair. Due to many health complications, he hasn't aged well, and he is not easily recognizable.

Billy Kidman was in his early 20s when he started wrestling for WCW. He signed for the company in 1996 and stayed there till WWE purchased it as well as Kidman's contract. Kidman won the Cruiserweight Championship and the Tag Team Championship in WCW.

Bull Nakano was one of the influential women wrestlers from the 1990s. She wrestled for WCW till 1996, so she was part of the war of Monday Night Wars. Her rivalry with Alundra Blayze or Madusa was one of the highlights of her career in both WWE and WCW.

Nakano's colorful hair and face paint made her stand out from other women. Today, she has regular hair, which is a reason 90s wrestling fans can't recognize her. Even though she is 54 years old, Nakano has maintained an impressive fitness level as she transitioned into a more normal life.

Sunny was arguably the most famous female personality of the wrestling world in the mid-1990s. More than a wrestler, she was a popular manager. Well, the primary reason for her popularity was the good look. During her time in WWE back then, she was the quintessential 90s blonde bombshell.

5 Ahmed Johnson

Ahmed Johnson wrestled in both WWE and WCW during the Monday Night Wars. He won the Intercontinental Championship in 1996. After leaving WWE, he was part of WCW for a brief period.

Johnson's incredible physique certainly made him an attraction. Weighing over 300 pounds, Johnson was a bulldozer with pure muscle mass. Fast forwarding to today, Ahmed Johnson certainly has a different look now. Following his WWE release in the late 90s, he was given an opportunity in WCW as Big T, but never quite took off.

4 Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is still involved in WWE programming, so the fans manage to recognize him. But the former WWE Champion looks way different from the days of Monday Night Wars. Had he been away from the TV or the wrestling world for a long time, he would have been unrecognizable for most fans.

Now HBK doesn't have his signature long hair. Since retiring from in-ring competition in 2010, Michaels has turned his attention to helping his friend Triple H behind the scenes in running NXT. He may not be the Heartbreak 'Kid' anymore, but he certainly has a valuable mind to offer the business.

3 Al Snow

Al Snow was one of the interesting gimmicks in the Attitude Era. He created many great segments while talking to the 'head' in the ring. He won the European Championship, Hardcore Championship, and the Tag Team Championship in his WWE career.

For the character work, Al Snow had an eccentric look with long hair and a mustache. Today, Al Snow looks drastically different, however, he still maintains a great physique. In fact, he looks more impressive now than he did back then.

2 Mideon

Mideon had a successful run in WWE during the Monday Night Wars. He won the European Championship as well as the Tag Team Championship. The most memorable stint of his WWE career was as a member of The Ministry of Darkness.

With long hair and full sleeve tattoos, Mideon looked great in his wrestling days. He retired from wrestling in 2006 and eventually became a chef. The 53-year-old is currently sporting a much different look as he focuses on a culinary career. It would be hard for any fan to recognize him if he is spotted in public.

1 Lex Luger

Although Lex Luger had an amazing run in WWE, like most top stars at that time, he jumped ship during Monday Night Wars. Hence, he primarily wrestled in WCW at that time. Winning the WCW World Heavyweight Championship twice, he certainly had a stupendous run in WCW.

Luger had one of the best physiques in the industry, which was a reason he played the 'narcissist' gimmick. After suffering a stroke, Luger suffered from temporary paralysis. Luger has turned his attention now to trying to educate others in making better personal decisions.
