Drew McIntyre and Sheamus working together rather than against one another has been a long time coming. The two long-time, real-life friends have had some terrific matches these last couple of years, but now they have joined forces to become a tag team known as The Banger Bros. Sounds rude, doesn't it? Yeah, you're not the only ones to have noticed that.

WWE Knows What Banger Bros. Sounds Like

Not only have Sheamus and McIntyre poked fun at their collective new name on social media, but according to a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it's known internally in WWE that the name Banger Bros. might well have connotations with a very different industry in the minds of some fans. However, whether WWE will decide to switch the name is yet to be determined.

“There has been some notice that the name Banger Bros for the tag team of Sheamus & Drew McIntyre. Evidently there is a porn company called Bang Bros. If the name changes, that would be the reason, although we haven't been told the name is changing,” Dave Meltzer reports (H/T to WrestlingNews.co for the transcription). Such a similar name that you'd have to imagine there's a risk should a fan try and Google the new name.

The Submission Sorority All Over Again

Shockingly, this isn't the first time WWE has done something like this. When Paige recruited Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch after the pair was called up from NXT, the trio labeled themselves The Submission Sorority. A direct reference to a group that makes pornographic content that went by the same name.

The Submission Sorority quickly had its name changed to the far simpler and less problematic PCB. The Banger Bros. have already lasted longer than that ill-thought-out name, and it remains to be seen if WWE will change it. As highlighted, while amusing, the biggest risk is WWE fans searching the team name online and not finding McIntyre and Sheamus.
