After splitting WrestleMania into two nights, there are two different main events each night, which is certainly exciting for both the spectators and performers. Likewise, WrestleMania 38 had two incredible main event matches.
The legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled in his first match in nearly two decades against Kevin Owens on Night 1 of WrestleMania 38. On the other hand, the Winner Takes All match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns closed the show on Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 after an impressive build-up. It was a Winner Takes All match with both the WWE Title and the Universal Championship on the line.
8 Stone Cold Vs Kevin Owens: No Holds Barred Match
Nothing gets better than a No Holds Barred Match in the main event of WrestleMania because the wrestlers can perform outside the ring. Thus, Stone Cold and Kevin Owens fought each other outside the ring to entertain the fans.
Despite being 57 years old, Stone Cold took a bump on the concrete. Kevin Owens also took some good bumps outside the ring as well. There was also use of a chair, table, and Stone Cold's ATV in the middle of the match, making it an awesome match.
7 Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns: No Interference From The Usos
The Bloodline has been the top stable of WWE for a while, owing to the leadership of Roman Reigns. Needless to say, Reigns' cousins, The Usos, have played a crucial role in a majority of title matches for Roman Reigns. In fact, Jey Uso interfered in the main event of WrestleMania 37 too, which helped Roman to retain the gold.
But the scenario was different this year. Although The Usos accompanied Reigns to the ring, they didn't interfere with the main event of WrestleMania 38. Reigns used a low blow and hit Lesnar with the belt, but the match still had a clean finish.
6 Stone Cold Vs Kevin Owens: The Match Was Longer
It might be hard to believe but the match between Kevin Owens and Stone Cold Steve Austin was longer than the match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. While the Night 1 main event lasted nearly 14 minutes, the Night 2 main event lasted little more than 12 minutes.
A 57-year-old Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was wrestling after 19 years, surprisingly delivered a longer match than two current main event stars in their primes.
5 Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns: Extremely Physical Match
Both Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are two big guys. Whenever they clash in the ring, they take each other to their limits to deliver highly physical matches. Hence, their WrestleMania 38 bout wasn't any different.
While it wasn't the best match between the two behemoths, they hit each other with their best shots multiple times. There were many Suplexes, Superman Punches, Spears, and F5s, before Lesnar finally surrendered to a devastating Spear from Reigns.
4 Stone Cold Vs Kevin Owens: Nostalgia
Well, the fans love nostalgia. WWE loves bringing back legendary Superstars to take the fans to memory lane. It was certainly a reason Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled after 19 years, which was still surreal. The main event match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kevin Owens was nostalgic.
The Texas Rattlesnake first entered the ring in his signature ATV, and the crowd gave him a loud pop. He drank beer and hit Stunners to bring back Attitude Era memories, which was the best era in WWE history. Moreover, Kevin Owens got an opportunity to wrestle his childhood idol.
3 Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns: The Build Up
Unlike the match between Kevin Owens and Stone Cold Steve Austin, the build-up of the match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns had been incredible. The build-up of this colossal battle started from SummerSlam 2021, where Lesnar returned and confronted The Tribal Chief.
Lesnar failed to dethrone Reigns at Crown Jewel, but then, he won the 2022 men's Royal Rumble as well as the WWE Championship later to set up this epic clash. WWE left no stone unturned to build this match. They even started to promote the match as the biggest WrestleMania match ever. Given the intense build-up of this match, it was certainly the superior main event of WrestleMania 38.
2 Stone Cold Vs Kevin Owens: The Aftermath
The best part of the Night 1 main event was the aftermath. After Stone Cold Steve Austin stunned Owens and won the match, he celebrated in style. While Kevin Owens received another stunner after the match, Byron Saxton also received one when he tried to celebrate with Austin in the ring.
In his signature style, Steve Austin emptied a number of beer cans. He also called his brother in the ring and celebrated the win by drinking beer with him. Needless to say, it was a perfect way to end a WrestleMania main event.
1 Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns: Right Winner & More Significant
As the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar faced the Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the Show of Shows, it was hard to pick a clear favorite. Given the excellent track records of both Superstars, either one could have won.
However, Roman Reigns slew The Beast Incarnate at the end. It was the right call to continue The Tribal Chief's amazing title reign, considering he is currently a full-time Superstar. Moreover, the result of the Night 2 main event was way more significant than the Night 1 main event, as it was a world title match.
