Kofi-mania part 2, anyone? Why not make the next John Cena a mix of Kofi Kingston’s personality but as tough as Roman Reigns? Imagine the underdog story that can transport time to when we had a babyface Daniel Bryan on top of the food chain. But is Big E really an underdog at all?

Cesaro was the early favorite to get the ultimate push as fans were expecting it after his split from Shinsuke Nakamura. The Usos and Reigns have been getting most of the show time on SmackDown, especially after Wrestlemania Backlash however, the push has always been Big E’s for the taking.

WWE As It Stands Now

John Cena & Roman Reigns WWE MITB 2021

Even if we are in the middle of Summer of Cena, eventually his time on WWE television programming will be up and that is exactly the issue.

As exciting as the very fact of having him back is, the amount of time he will be back for is only temporary.

The WWE has not laid out the foundation for a storyline to have a competitor face Reigns with just an equal amount of attention, fandom, and stardom. It is not that there are no credible competitors, but that there are no competitors with credible storylines or characters.

Why Big E is the Best Choice To Take Over WWE

Big E Wins Money In The Bank 2021

Before there was Big E, there was Big E Langston.

Even with the lack of momentum, Big E had a run with the Intercontinental Championship after turning face and transitioning to the main roster. Even after coming off the heels of serving as an enforcer in the team of Aj Lee and Dolph Ziggler, Big E managed to hold it for the time of 167 days.

But while he might have had an opportunity that many don’t have in their entire career, there was no energy behind him to give him more than just a mid-card standing.

Once The New Day came together it gave Big E the personality he did not have before. With the experience he was building, he was developing a character and a story.

The New Day Elevated Big E

The New Day’s legacy will forever be cemented as a tag team in and out of the ring. While Big E may have a total of eight Raw and Smackdown Tag Team Championships the stories, moments, quotes, are what has allowed the WWE to use The New Day as the champion tag team and have propelled Big E into the champion babyface.

There is no singles competitor who could equal the popularity of a heel Roman Reigns than a Big E - even without The New Day. Every moment in his career has propelled him for a champion run.

The Future With The Money in The Bank Briefcase

The briefcase is just an accessory.

Even if Nikki A.S.H. had a quick and successful cash-in, WWE should continue to build on the momentum of the live crowd and have Big E hold it for a post-Cena cash-in.

With established credibility under his belt and years of fan support around him, Big E has always been the perfect choice for Mr. Money in the Bank.

Now it is just a matter of making sure WWE does fail him as the perfect babyface also.

The New Day in the ring

With a potential draft in the air and part-timers always being speculated to come back, and Big E even having the potential to cash in on Bobby Lashley, the reign of Big E as Mr. Money in the Bank is variable. Even with all the cuts from the roster, it is as stacked as ever, giving Big E his own pool of opportunities until his time comes to get to the top.

The climb to the top might have not been as clear with it being a bit stagnant during his time in The New Day. But by doing an overview of his time on the WWE roster, it is clear that the WWE has been building Big E to be a main event star.

While it is clear that now more than ever the timing will have to be perfect, Big E is ready to take the reins as WWE's next top babyface.
