Before the Women's Revolution, the WWE had the tendency of recruiting women based on their looks and one such example was Eva Marie, who was a fitness model before getting picked by WWE. Blessed with a good look and a physique, Eva Marie was certainly a perfect fit for the Divas Era.
However, her look didn't get her over because she was terrible as an in-ring performer. She made her in-ring debut in 2013, the same year she was signed by WWE. Hence, she didn't look ready for the big stage. Eva Marie had several botches and embarrassing moments in her career.
10 Failed To Pronounce Jinder Mahal's Name Correctly
Not just in the ring, Eva Marie also embarrassed herself on the microphone, notably when she was given the role of a ring announcer in 2013. 3MB faced The Usos in a tag team match, and Eva Marie botched the name of Jinder Mahal while announcing, which was shown on Total Divas.
While she announced the names of Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre correctly, she mentioned Jinder Mahal as 'Ginger Mahal'. What's more baffling was that she had no remorse after pronouncing the name incorrectly when 3 MB and Jinder Mahal confronted her backstage.
9 The Sliding Reverse STO Vs Liv Morgan (NXT, November 4, 2015)
Eva Marie was sent back to NXT to improve her in-ring skills in 2015. On an episode of NXT, she faced the local competitor Marley, now known as Liv Morgan.
It was another disappointing match for Eva Marie, and the finish was even more embarrassing. She used a Sliding Reversed STO as a finisher, which looked awful. As a result, the fans started chanting "What was that?"
8 Gave A Concussion To Carmella At NXT Live Event (2015)
Eva Marie had a match with Carmella at an NXT live event in Nashville back in 2015. During the match, Eva humiliated herself in the squared circle by giving another dreadful performance that led to a chant from fans "Please retire."
She faced Carmella in a singles match, but the match came to an unexpected end after Eva landed a kick wrong. Carmella suffered a concussion, and the match was stopped immediately.
7 Called Summer Rae A Piece Of Dog Poop (SmackDown, May 27, 2014)
Summer Rae and Eva Marie were having a feud in May 2014. Ricardo Rodriguez interviewed Eva Marie and Nikki Bella backstage on an episode of SmackDown.
When Ricardo asked about Summer Rae, Eva snatched the microphone and tried doing trash talk about Summer Rae but failed miserably. She called Summer Rae a piece of dog poop, while her dialogue delivery was also poor, making the promo cringeworthy.
6 Was Suspended For Violating WWE Wellness Policy
While it is common for male talents to get suspended for violating WWE wellness policy, it is certainly not usual for female Superstars. It was embarrassing for Eva Marie to get suspended for 30 days for the same reason. Furthermore, her husband's rant regarding the suspension made the matter even worse.
After the suspension, Eva Marie was taken off of TV by WWE and then, she decided to leave the company.
5 Suffered A Wardrobe Malfunction (SmackDown, August 9, 2016)
Possibly one of the most embarrassing moments of her career was a wardrobe malfunction she suffered on an episode of the blue brand, which was certainly intentional. Eva was supposed to fight Becky Lynch in a singles match, but the match had to be canceled due to the wardrobe failure.
As a result, the referee covered Eva Marie with a white towel, and he also announced that the match wouldn't take place. With the announcement, Becky Lynch was visibly upset.
4 Continued Faking Different Things To Avoid Wrestling (August 2016)
After WrestleMania 32, Eva Marie was drafted to SmackDown. The redhead Superstar was already infamous for her substandard skills in between ropes, and she degraded her position more by following tactics to avoid wrestling.
In August 2016, Eva showed up on SmackDown, but she faked different things so she wouldn't have to wrestle. First, she pretended to have a hamstring injury against Becky Lynch and the referee called off the match. Subsequently, she had the above-mentioned wardrobe fail, followed by another incident when she was late due to heavy traffic, canceling the match against Naomi.
3 The Awkward First Impression On The Miz TV ( RAW, July 22, 2013)
As a member of Total Divas, Eva Marie was introduced by The Miz on the Miz TV, along with other co-stars on RAW. The A-Lister handed over the mic to the Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler to continue the interview.
When Jerry turned her attention to Eva Marie, she said that she didn't like the way Jerry looked at her and immediately slapped him, claiming to make a name for herself. The first impression was certainly embarrassing and disrespectful, and she was jeered by the audience. Moreover, the way she talked on the mic, it looked like wasn't anywhere ready for the big league.
2 Made Aksana Botch A Knee Strike (Main Event, February 24, 2014)
On an episode of WWE Main Event, Eva Marie teamed up with Natalya to take on the team of Alicia Fox and Aksana. At the start of the match, Eva and Aksana were wrestling, and the latter botched a knee strike because of the former.
Aksana was about to hit a knee to Eva, who was on the ground. But Eva moved too early, forcing Aksna to hit it too late on the ring mat. With that incident, Eva proved that she could make other wrestlers make botches in the ring too.
1 The Count As A Guest Referee (SmackDown, May 16, 2014)
Eva Marie's embarrassing moments weren't just limited to just as a wrestler or on the microphone but also while refereeing a match. Eva Marie was a guest referee once when Natalya faced Nikki Bella in a singles match.
Natalya trapped Nikki Bella in a submission, but the latter reverse it. After reversing, Eva didn't realize that she had to count. In fact, Nikki Bella had to insist to Eva that she should do the three count. Nikki Bella ended up winning the match.
