Being the leading professional wrestling company in the world, WWE has had some great tag teams like Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz, The Usos to New Day. Talented tag teams from different eras have cemented their legacies in history.

Despite such a pool of talents, the company is often criticized for substandard booking of the tag team division. With recent firings in WWE, the tag team division is left with only a handful of teams. Also, unlike mid-card and main event cards, WWE doesn't put much effort into building interesting storylines for the tag team division. Many such poor booking decisions and matches prove WWE's neglect towards tag team division.

9 Braun Strowman And Nicholas Vs. The Bar (WrestleMania 34)

Nicholas and Braun Strowman at Wrestlemania 34

WWE made an absolute mockery of the tag team division in front of nearly eighty thousand people at the Grandest Stage of Them All. As Braun Strowman was without a tag team partner, he picked up a random fan from the audience as his tag team partner at WrestleMania 34. In fact, it wasn't an adult but a ten-year-old kid, Nicholas.

Strowman wrestled the whole match alone, technically making it a handicap match. The Monster Among Men won the match within four minutes, while Nicholas became the youngest ever champion in WWE.

8 Breezango Vs. The Ascension (Money In The Bank 2017)

Breeazango Vs the Ascension at Money in the Bank

The Ascension had the potential to be a great tag team given their size and look. With the face paint and ring gear, they looked identical to The Road Warriors. Though they were highly dominant in NXT and even won the NXT Tag Team Titles, they turned out to be failures on the main roster.

Following a decent start of the main roster career, they faced Breezango at the 2017 Money in the Bank. Breezango squashed The Ascension. The match was a way to bury a strong tag team, and The Ascension never recovered.

7 The Viking Raiders Vs. The Street Profits (Backlash 2020)

The Viking Riaders and The Street Profits at Backlash

During the pandemic era, especially when WWE was hosting shows at the WWE Performance Center, there were basically two teams in the Raw Tag Team division, which showed WWE's disinterest in the division.

Every week, The Viking Raiders and The Street Profits were involved in various non -wrestling competitions like axe throwing, golf, and basketball. But when they were about to face each other at 2020 Backlash, the match never actually took place as they ended up just brawling.

6 Shelton Benjamin And Cedric Alexander Vs. The New Day (Raw, March 15, 2021)

New Day Vs The Hurt Business at WWE Thunderdome

The Hurt Business's popularity skyrocketed soon after its formation. Needless to say, the faction was one of the best things to come out of the Thunderdome era. Given their popularity and momentum, WWE made them the Raw Tag Team Champions.

After a great run for a couple of months, The Hurt Business lost the twin titles to The New Day on an episode of Raw, which was unexpected. With that loss, the faction also broke as Lashley kicked out Benjamin and Alexander. Following this match, WWE's Raw tag team division was badly damaged.

5 Robert Roode And Dolph Ziggler Vs. Braun Strowman And Seth Rollins (Clash Of Champions 2019)

Rollins Strowman Vs Ziggle Roode at Clash of Champions

It's not every day fans can see two tag team partners competing against each other on the same night. Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins, who were competing for the Universal Championship, teamed up to defend their Raw Tag Team Championship at Clash of Champions, showing how little WWE respected the tag team division.

Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins lost the red belts, while the match itself was quite ordinary.

4 The New Age Outlaws Vs. Goldust And Cody Rhodes (Royal Rumble 2014)

Rhodes Brothers vs New Age Outlaws at Royal Rumblle

WWE's over-dependency on old stars showed in the tag team division in 2014 when The New Age Outlaws returned for a brief run in the tag team division. As a matter of fact, they also won the WWE Tag Team Championships, which doomed some promising tag teams on the roster.

The legendary duo beat the Rhodes brothers, Goldust and Cody Rhodes at the 2014 Royal Rumble. While The New Age Outlaws were legends, they certainly didn't need a title run.

3 The Revival Vs. The B-Team (SummerSlam 2018)

The Revival Vs The B-Team at Summerslam

Like The Ascension, The Revival received similar treatment from WWE, which showed how the tag team division of the company was spiraling. Upon arriving on the main roster, The Revival carried a huge reputation as the former two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

The match between The Revival and The B-Team at SummerSlam in 2018 ruined them. The Revival was humiliated within six minutes, and their momentum got derailed. The match showed that WWE wasn't serious about making new stars in the tag team division.

2 The Bludgeon Brothers Vs. Luke Gallows And Karl Anderson (Money In The Bank 2018)

The Bludgeon Brothers Vs Luke Gallows And Karl Anderson

Given the reputation of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson with The Bullet Club, they were expected to replicate the same success in WWE. In fact, they were over among wrestling fans, so they skipped NXT and landed directly on the main roster.

After a decent run on Raw, Gallows and Anderson had a lackluster run after being drafted to SmackDown, and their match at the 2018 Money in the Bank was the reason for the fall of one of the best tag teams in the world. After the loss against The Bludgeon Brothers, Gallows and Anderson turned into lower card Superstars until they reunited with AJ Styles. On the other hand, Bludgeon Brothers also didn't stay together for long either.

1 The Miz And John Cena Vs. The Corre (Raw, February 21, 2011)

Miz and Cena on Raw

WWE showed how they undervalued the Tag Team Titles on the Raw after Elimination Chamber in 2011 when the anonymous Raw General Manager randomly paired John Cena and the WWE Champion, The Miz.

The unlikely duo beat the WWE Tag Team Champions, The Corre, but the celebration was short-lived. As The Corre issued the rematch clause, Cena and The Miz lost the belts on the same night because the latter turned on the former. It was unnecessary booking that completely devalued the titles.
