Money In The Bank has become one of the biggest shows of the year for WWE. On that night, two lucky competitors' career have the potential to change forever. Winning the coveted Money In The Bank contract guarantees the holder a World Championship match at any time of their choosing for up to a year. In its infancy, winning the coveted contract virtually guaranteed a future championship run for the holder.

In total, the Money In The Bank contract has been cashed in on the WWE Champion 11 times. Of those 11, 9 performers have managed to successfully cash in and become champions. However, a closer look will show that some of those cash-ins were a lot more memorable than others.

9 The Miz (2021)

After The Miz's first championship run ended in 2011, many fans thought he'd had his 15 minutes of fame, and would soon be forgotten.

Surprisingly, The Miz never slid too far down the WWE card. He continually found ways to stay relevant. In 2020, The Miz won possession of The Money In The Bank contract, making him only the third man to hold the contract twice. He successfully cashed in on Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber 2021becoming WWE Champion for a second time. Unfortunately, Miz's reign would only last a week.

8 Sheamus

During the first half of the 2010s, Sheamus was one of WWE's most beloved babyfaces. His rugged "arse-kicking" persona got over very well with the WWE audience. Nonetheless, fans eventually grew tired of Sheamus' act. After some time away, he returned to WWE in 2015 with a new look and a new heel attitude. Initially, fans didn't seem to care too much about the returning Sheamus. Things changed when he became "Mr. Money In The Bank."

At Survivor Series 2015, Sheamus cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on an unsuspecting Roman Reigns. Reigns had just defeated his friend Dean Ambrose to win the vacant WWE Championship, only to have Sheamus steal it away. The win got Sheamus tons of heat, though he wouldn't hold on to the title for terribly long.

7 Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio's first WWE run was rather eventful. Upon arriving in WWE, Del Rio received a massive push the likes of which only, Yokozuna, Kurt Angle, and Brock Lesnar had ever seen. In his first year, Del Rio defeated many of WWE's top stars enroute to winning the 2011 Royal Rumble and the World Heavyweight Championship. Del Rio's magic run continued when he became the first Latin American to win the Money In The Bank contract.

At SummerSlam 2011, Del Rio would successfully cash in his contract on the hottest entity in the wrestling business, CM Punk. Del Rio got a little help from a returning Kevin Nash, who unexpectedly attacked Punk before the cash in. Before long, Del Rio would drop the title back to Punk, who would then hold it for a whopping 434 days.

6 Dean Ambrose

At Money In The Bank 2016, Ambrose took his first step towards winning the top prize in WWE when he won the Money In The Bank contract.

Ambrose wouldn't bide his time too long. He would successfully cash in his contract that same night on Seth Rollins. The win was historic, making every former member of The Shield a World Champion. Furthermore, the win was historic for the fact that Reigns, Rollins, and Ambrose had all held the WWE Championship on the same night. Ambrose would go on to have a solid, yet unspectacular reign as champion.

5 Rob Van Dam

At WrestleMania 22, Van Dam seemed to finally be on the path to a World Title when he became the second " Mr. Money In The Bank." Despite Edge having cashed in the first Money In The Bank contract in surprising fashion, that hadn't exactly become the standard yet. As a babyface, Van Dam opted to give John Cena plenty of heads up before he intended to cash in.

At ECW: One Night Stand 2006, Van Dam successfully cashed in his contract on John Cena. The ECW faithful who were in attendance lost their minds as one of their heroes finally reached the top of the business. Sadly, Van Dam's title reign ended abruptly thanks to a marijuana possession charge.

4 The Miz (2010)

After spending a while paying his dues, The Miz earned the respect of his peers and eventually the wrestling audience. In 2010, The Miz was enjoying the strongest push of his career as the United States Champion. That year, Miz would also go on to become "Mr. Money In The Bank."

On the 11/22/10 episode of Monday Night Raw, The Miz cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on a vulnerable Randy Orton. To the dismay of some fans, The Miz would become WWE Champion and go on to headline WrestleMania against John Cena. It wouldn't be the last time The Miz successfully cashed in a Money In The Bank contract.

3 Randy Orton

In 2013, Randy Orton embarked on one of his top heel runs ever when he won the Money In The Bank contract. Orton wouldn't hold on to the contract for too long though.

At SummerSlam 2013, Daniel Bryan would win his first WWE Championship in a gruelling match against John Cena. After the match, Orton would emerge and tease a cash-in. While he had Bryan's attention, Triple H would Pedigree Bryan, serving him up on a silver platter for Orton. This would be the birth of The Authority and plant the seeds for the Yes! Movement.

2 Seth Rollins

When Seth Rollins turned his back on The Shield and aligned himself with Triple H and The Authority, he immediately made himself a top star. Rollins would quickly win the Money In The Bank contract and threaten to cash it on various occasions. However, Rollins wouldn't cash in the contract until the perfect moment.

During the Roman Reigns/Brock Lesnar main event, Rollins stormed the ring at the most opportune time to cash in his Money In The Bank contract and become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Michael Cole dubbed it "The Heist Of The Century" and it's hard to argue with him.

1 Edge

Wrestling fans have witnessed some great Money In The Bank cash-ins throughout the years. Still, perhaps none will ever compare to the shock and excitement of Edge cashing in the very first Money In The Bank contract. Edge won the contract in the first-ever Money In The Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 21. he would hold the briefcase for nearly a year before finally cashing it in.

At New Years Revolution 2006, Edge came out after a brutal Elimination Chamber Match and cashed in his contract on a beaten and bloody John Cena. It was a historic moment that has yet to be surpassed by any other cash-in.
