Multiple reports have stated that former WWE Champion CM Punk is set to join AEW very soon. Interestingly, it doesn't sound like WWE was ever that interested in a reunion with him.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote "The last we heard WWE wasn’t interested in Punk, but AEW being interested in him could have easily changed that tune."

Ringside News inquired about WWE's potential interest in working with CM Punk again. They were told that "WWE has no interest in doing business with Punk."

This is all very interesting, to say the least. Triple H recently admitted that he had communication with CM Punk. The Game also suggested that if CM Punk wanted to work for WWE again, he simply had to make a phone call. And back in Dec. 2019, Stephanie McMahon expressed interest in working again with Punk and his wife, AJ Lee. At any rate, WWE's interest or lack thereof in working again with CM Punk is a moot point. It sounds like Punk and AEW have a deal in place, perhaps as soon as the upcoming All Out pay-per-view on Sept. 5.

CM Punk isn't the only marquee wrestler that is supposedly on his way to AEW. Recent reports claim that the company has also signed Daniel Bryan, whose WWE contract expired nearly three months ago. It's unclear at this time when Bryan might appear for AEW.

CM Punk Is A Massive Addition For AEW

It's been seven and a half years since CM Punk left the WWE. For years, countless wrestling fans have waited for his return to the squared circle, and it finally appears to be on the horizon.

AEW has assembled an excellent roster full of main event stars, one that includes several WWE legends. Adding both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan — two of the most prominent wrestlers of the last decade —should definitely take this company to new heights. Needless to say, this is a giant turning point in the business competition between WWE and AEW.
