Everyone knows that SummerSlam is WWE's second biggest event, and that's precisely why expectations are high, and goosebumps rise when fans think about how great the event can be. SummerSlam is all about big matches, great superstars and memorable moments.

Throughout history, several wrestlers have frequently competed at SummerSlam, some winning over and over again, like Edge, who is the wrestler with the most wins at the PPV. On the other hand, there are also superstars who are not so lucky and have a very bad record at The Biggest Party Of The Summer. Without further ado, here are the nine wrestlers with the most losses in SummerSlam history.

9 The Undertaker - 5

Undertaker

The Undertaker has lost five matches at SummerSlam. His first three losses were consecutive. The Deadman lost to Mankind at SummerSlam 1996, the following year to Bret Hart, and at the 1998 edition he lost to 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Interestingly, The Undertaker's other two losses were also consecutive. In 2004, Undertaker was disqualified in his WWE Heavyweight Title match against John Bradshaw Layfield and at SummerSlam 2005, Taker put Randy Orton over. It is worth mentioning that The Undertaker also had 10 wins at SummerSlam.

8 Dolph Ziggler – 5

Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler has participated in nine SummerSlam matches, of which he has lost five. His first loss was against Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam 2009, and that match was one of the best of Ziggler's career, without a doubt. He also lost to Chris Jericho in the 2012 edition.

“The Show Off” has lost his last three matches at the PPV, against Dean Ambrose in 2016 and against Seth Rollins in 2018. His last match at SummerSlam was in 2019 against none other than Goldberg, who squashed Ziggler in less than two minutes.

7 Rey Mysterio – 5

Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio has delivered some great matches at The Biggest Party Of The Summer. One of his best performances was at SummerSlam 2002, when he faced Kurt Angle and they both put on a clinic. That was Mysterio's first loss though.

In the following years, Rey Mysterio was able to win four matches at SummerSlam, but also lost four others. The Dudley Boyz, Kane and Chavo Guerrero all managed to defeat Rey Mysterio. Surprisingly, Rey Mysterio has not competed at SummerSlam since 2012, when he was defeated by The Miz.

6 Triple H – 5

Triple H SummerSlam

Triple H has participated in 13 matches at SummerSlam, winning eight and losing five. His first loss was at SummerSlam 1997, in a Steel Cage match against hardcore legend Mankind.

Undoubtedly, Triple H’s most memorable loss was to Shawn Michaels at SummerSlam 2002. That night, he did his best and put his body on the line to entertain the fans, and it was a performance worthy of a standing ovation. Triple H's last SummerSlam match was in 2012, when he lost to Brock Lesnar.

5 Booker T – 5

Booker T

Booker T has one of the worst win-loss records in SummerSlam history, having participated in five matches and losing all of them.

In the main event of SummerSlam 2001, Booker T dropped the World Heavyweight Title to The Rock. The following year, Booker T teamed with Goldust to challenge Tag Team Champions Christian and Lance Storm, but they failed. At SummerSlam 2004, Booker T lost to John Cena, in 2006 he lost against Batista, and in the 2007 edition against Triple H.

4 Jeff Hardy – 6

Jeff Hardy

Believe it or not, Jeff Hardy has lost six matches, and has never been able to win at The Biggest Party Of The Summer.

His first appearance was at SummerSlam 1999, where he participated in a Tag Team Turmoil match alongside his brother Matt. The following year, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz were defeated by Christian and Edge in an insane Tables, Ladders & Chairs match. Jeff also had four singles matches, against Rob Van Dam, Montel Vontavious Porter, CM Punk and Shinsuke Nakamura, but the result was the same.

3 Chris Jericho – 6

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho participated in 11 matches at SummerSlam, winning five and losing six. His first loss was in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls match against Chris Benoit at SummerSlam 2000. Two years later Y2J failed to defeat Ric Flair and in 2003, Jericho participated in an Elimination Chamber match, in which Triple H prevailed.

At SummerSlam 2014, Edge defeated Chris Jericho and Batista in a Triple Threat match, and in the 2005 edition Jericho lost to John Cena in a match for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Chris Jericho's last loss at SummerSlam was in 2014 against Bray Wyatt.

2 Randy Orton – 7

Randy Orton

Randy Orton has a win-loss record at SummerSlam of seven wins, seven losses and one draw. Over the years, The Viper has lost to high-caliber wrestlers such as Triple H, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Sheamus and Brock Lesnar. They weren't easy challenges for Orton, that's for sure.

Randy Orton's most recent loss was at SummerSlam 2020 in an outstanding match against Drew McIntyre. Odds are that he will probably pick up a couple more losses at the PPV before he hangs his boots up.

1 John Cena – 9

John Cena SummerSlam

Surprisingly, John Cena is the wrestler with the most losses in SummerSlam history. The Doctor Of Thuganomics has starred in several epic matches at SummerSlam, as most of his defeats were in memorable bouts. Cena has lost to his eternal rivals Randy Orton and Edge, as well as losing to Batista at SummerSlam 2008.

Cena lost at SummerSlam for six years in a row, and incredibly all of the matches were classics, except for the 2012 Triple Threat match against CM Punk and Big Show. He had terrific performances in his losses to Punk, Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles.
